Apparently they are using MANY MANY themes by Goldsmith and Horner in this one.

Really? Thats an interesting turn of events. Most unexpected.

Giacchino is the master of adapting other people's music to stick out like a sore thumb in his increasingly banal music, so that makes sense if he's going to be including even more composers' music in the new Trek score. I say this as someone who used to think he was the Second Coming.

I seem to be in a minority but I found Giacchino's Trek score to be very dull and unmemorable.

Granted, it isnt quite so terrible as the score for Trek IV and VI but nor was it anywhere close to even the worst of the Goldsmith and Horner entries.

Star Trek VI's score is dull?!? Whaaaaaaaaaaat?

Right you are, you Trek Nerds, so so easy to toy with. You'll all go see it, you'll all go buy the CD, you'll all go buy the DVD and you'll all bitch and moan about it. It's not a religion, it's just a movie/TV franchise. You guys are so gullible razz

At least that sounds more interesting than dishwater.

Shouldn't the guy who makes a get-together for film score fans and hock autographs treat his customers with a bit more respect?

I'll remember this every time I never buy a thing from you, Hackman.

>>>>>>>You guys are so gullible>>>>>>>>>

How is it gullible to believe someone has 'inside info' on the use of previous TREK themes for the new score?
If you don't add some kind of wink or smiley, it's not implausable to suggest such a thing could happen and people will believe such a thing!
For once, I'm even in agreement with Lehah here!! wink

DMD just likes toying with people. Im sure that time can be better spent elsewhere. He just wants to get a rise out of people. And Im sure the fact that his name has even been mentioned in posts since his intial one is making him grin in his chair. Just take what he says with a grain of salt, until proof can be provided.
So lets move on to talk about this score shall we? smile

Peter, you should know better than to tease the Trekkies. Wait...indeed you do know. ;-)

And I'm the first one to blow his wad for a new trek album.

BTW, did anyone see the extended trailer? Any truth to Khan's theme being in it?

I didnt hear Khan's theme...it isnt consistant with what JJ "wants".

Well perhaps if people didn't take this message board so seriously sometimes, it wouldn't be so easy...

What's ironic is that - from what I heard just today - Giacchino apparently *does* quote Horner at one point. So DMD wasn't a million miles off!
