I ordered a copy, but I did not see what kind of elements were used for this release ? Anyone have any idea ?

We had the original, beautiful digital tape which contained every single take.

I've only ordered from Varese once before so I'm not sure if you get a shipping notice in the email similar to La La La Land Records. Anyone able to shed light on this?

And this'll be so amazing. I'm a really huge fan of all the Die Hard movies. I never understood the bad reviews for this movie (not the score). It never measured up the first one, but it's by no means a bad movie.

I never really paid enough attention to the Die Hard 2 score, but I'm definitely going to now. Thanks to all involved for making this see the light of day.

Well aside from a low volume level the original DH2 album sounded great.

Low volume level??? Sounded loud to me. Even my low BR 128kb copy on my iPod sounds intense.

Hey Peter

They will email you a ship notification when it is coming your way.

BTW... DIE HARD 2 rocks. smile Love it. I saw the movie with my best friend in a packed theater. The audience was amazing. Claps. Yells. Laughs. I also will never get the negative reviews.

And while I have no insider info or anything, with LLL having done Die Hard and Varese doing Die Hard 2, wouldn't it be cool if Intrada surprised us with Die Hard with a Vengeance one day?

Just occured to me after reading MV's post in another thread about Studio freezing on titles in the path of new content. Die Hard 4 is coming in February. Could be a freeze on old Die Hard content in 2013, and the "Starting Early" statement at Varese meant now or considerably later?

If Fox is doing a freeze as they did with X-Men and Planet of the Apes, we may see an expanded DH3 release this year. :-)

Not to take anything away from the new DH2, since this was a delightful surprise! :-)

It's possible when Die Hard 2 comes out that another label will release it. For now I'm getting it. I did an order through Movie Music since I all ready have an order with them for Witches Of Eastwick.

It is not possible for another label to re-release this title. Varese has the rights in perp. They are the only ones who can re-release it unless they:

A) Sub license it out
B) Go out of business

So pick up this awesome release asap!

Die Hard 2 does get lots of flack. I've always felt that, despite it's flaws (which are actually very few), it is the only true sequel to the first film. It's the only sequel that also takes place on Christmas, features Holly and is set in a confined area. They nailed the look and feel of the first film perfectly.

I'm not expecting them to set every film on Christmas, but the other open world adventures just don't feel like Die Hard to me. I also wish Willis still wore hair and smoked...

Die Hard 2 is hopeful the beginning of the expansion of DH3 smile I'm preferring the third one more than the second, but it's a startsmile Simon says: "Please release me in complete form!" big grin

I believe the movie even references the absurdity of the premise happening to its protagonist again, a nice touch.

I thought DH2 was an exceptional sequel, as was the third.

Die Hard With A Vengeance would most likely be in Intrada's territory. It was a co-production between Fox and Disney.

Agreed. Even Gene Siskel put it on his top ten of 1990 list.

"Just the fax, Maam. Just the fax."

"What sets off the metal detectors first? The lead in your ass, or the shit in your brains?"

Is this the complete score? Anything missing?

. I appreciate your post Neil. I am glad you guys had the original digital tape, and am sure you did a wonderful job. I am excited to hear it. I am probably in the minority, but I like everything about Die Hard 2 better, Kamen's music included.

Die Hard With A Vengeance would most likely be in Intrada's territory. It was a co-production between Fox and Disney.

Actually, both studios didn't finance the production of the film. They only distribute that movie--meaning they only paid for the right to show the film in the theaters and sell the videos--Fox for United States of America territories and Disney for the worldwide territories.

The production company, Cinergi, paid for the film’s production.

What that means is that neither Fox nor Disney would have the music elements in their possession.

That production company is no more, so, it is a question of…

1) who has ownership of the film to grant a license.
2) where the music elements are kept

Probably that is why a score-only album of DH3 hasn’t been released yet, where soundtrack albums of the first two have been released twice.

I hope so. I can't order it or The Red Pony until later in the week.

Ordered!

And I was especially taken by this line in the product description:

We are on the cusp of beginning our 35th anniversary celebrations for 2013 but thought we’d get the party started early with this special release of a Kamen classic.

Makes you wonder what other titles are planned for this anniversary. smile

Hopefully a few others they have in perpetuity. I'd love Predator 2 and Starship Troopers. RoboCop 3 would be great too.

And while I have no insider info or anything, with LLL having done Die Hard and Varese doing Die Hard 2, wouldn't it be cool if Intrada surprised us with Die Hard with a Vengeance one day?

Or La La Land??? :-) so hoping.

I was thinking La-La-Land just a few hours ago... It'd be fantabulous!
