It has to be Nemesis, because all star trek scores get locked once Star Trek 2 is released? This whole "lock" thing is being taken as gospel, and I believe it is anything but. It's based on a single piece of evidence that is more than fifteen years old -- that Paramount didn't want the expanded Sony "Motion Picture" CD released the same year as "First Contact." While that may have been true then, 1996 might as well have been a millennia ago in the media world. The CD market is completely different, the movie market is completely different, and I doubt that anybody who was at Paramount then remains there today. Besides, FSM's "Wrath of Khan" CD was released in 2009 -- the same year as the J.J. Abrams reboot movie. That would seem to be pretty clear evidence that this "lock," if it ever really existed, is a thing of the past, no? Ive already explained this in other threads. This was Also confirmed to me recently by an industry insider. But whats to argue here? We ARE getting the goods altogether finally. Can you guess the number of TREK expansions this year...its unprecedented!! Amer....you are right on the ball my friend. Thanks!! But now it seems the other 2 movie scores will get out after Star Trek Darkness?

Just to clarify -- No "new" "older" Trek stuff until Nov of next year... that's why we are scrambling to get our TOS set out by year's end. Only "ST Into Darkness" merchandise in 2013. This is very common in Hollywood. We had to delay releases like X2 and Planet of the Apes (Elfman) to make way for the newer films that were released recently. As for DS9, its looking like we can release it very early January 2013 as long as we can get it all signed off on by the Holidays. MV Well, it's definetely good to have that confirmed. I didn't thought it was really that serious (i was somewhat expecting a couple months before and after the cinema release or something but not a whole year.) Anyway, that sure explains the crazy release schedule for Star Trek-soundtracks. As much as I love this stuff coming, this year especially it really felt like a whole lot stuff with not much room to breath inbetween. In the end, I think, this lock might even help the labels - I don't think that Paramount has to worry about their movie/merchandise, I'd worry more about the soundtrack label's releases at the time (I think it's more likely that fans will put the movie on priority, and not some "old" soundtracks. But what do I know? ). Besides, if this means, new Star Trek soundtracks for November next year, that's also something to look forward to. In the meantime, we have more than enough stuff to revisit.

With my money already going to La-La Land's TOS set, let me just add one thing--allow me to deliver one tiny phrase to Varese, and hopefully they're listening: NO MORE FUCKING BOX SETS!

Word on the street is, music from and inspired by the movie, The Hearse.

I'm hoping for "Enemy Mine". Or a re-issue of that John Williams classical CD that I've never even seen an actual copy of.

Word on the street is, music from and inspired by the movie, The Hearse. I hear it's Delerue's rejected score to the Hearse, but in its original LP configuration! (I think that covers the all the things you always see in a new release thread) MV

Hoping for an Encore release of Silvestri's CAT'S EYE, just in time for Halloween. It wouldn't be an Encore release, as it was never on CD. It'd be a 1000 copy club release, just like other LP reissues. We've been begging for 'Cat's Eye' for years. I seriously don't think Varese cares at this point. If they release it come the 22nd, I'll stand corrected. However, with so many seemingly-neglected expansions never arriving, so many disappointments year after year, I don't suspect I'm wrong.

Aren't all the Next Gen Star Trek films' soundtrack rights held by GNP?

Aren't all the Next Gen Star Trek films' soundtrack rights held by GNP? Not Nemesis. VS released the original album and still holds the rights (apparently forevuh).

I'm not sure why people expect every label to contribute to releasing or re-releasing all the Trek scores. Because of who holds the rights. GNP holds the rights to all but one of the Next Gen film scores. VS holds the rights to Nemesis. That's why multiple labels are involved. I'd be plenty happy if one of the other labels could put out Nemesis.
