A complete Secret Of NIMH with remastered sound (to correct that horrible channel drop-out at the beginning of the "Moving Day" track) and the cues presented in the order of the film. Not to say that the current disc is any less than generous, but this is my favorite Goldsmith score for my favorite movie, and I'd love to have all of it on CD someday.

Off the top of my head, expanded/complete versions of Explorers, The Shadow (a top-ranking Holy Grail for me), The Secret of NIMH, First Knight, and First Blood would find very nice homes on my shelf. smile

All the more reason to have released it separately.

I must say i'm VERY glad you are not a CD producer. Having those two scores released on one CD was great for my pocket. The cover art is the least important aspect, but this goes to show you how picky some people are on this board.

Alex

If expecting stylistic-appropriate cover art for a CD or LP meets your definition of picky, then I guess I'm picky. Especially at these prices.

Absolutely! It needs shouting though....

THE LIST OF ADRIAN MESSENGER

Add to that complete versions of THE SHADOW and SMALL SOLDIERS and this will be a fantastic year.

THE TROUBLE WITH ANGELS
THE GOING UP OF DAVID LEV

A remastered THE BLUE MAX is high on my list.

But the THRILLER television scores are more likely to actually happen.

Psycho II would be awesome. What a smart choice to go soft and simple for the main theme.

Gremlins Gremlins Gremlins. C'mon already. That Michael Sembello song needs to be remastered FORTHWITH!!! (Did it have a score?)

Is Supergirl on CD? That was quite a robust effort.

MacArthur expanded---GREAT score.

Masada expanded.

If anyone can deliver two of those, I will buy them a six-pack of the beer of their choice.

Here are my BOLD GOLDsmith predictions for 2010- I only bring these up because they seem feasable, based on current market conditions and which labels seem to have a taproot on certain studio's nuts:

GREMLINS- LALALAND-
THRILLER- VARESE CLUB
THE LIST OF ADRIAN MESSENGER- VARESE CLUB
CHINATOWN- COMPLETE- TOSS UP
OUTLAND- COMPLETE- FSM
LINK- THE DELUXE EDITION- VARESE CLUB
SEBASTIAN- INTRADA

I thought Goldsmith never wrote any music for "Babe"? "Gladiator" is not one of Goldsmith's best.

I thought Goldsmith never wrote any music for "Babe"?

Well, I could be wrong on that. Here's the snippet I found from a rejected scores site:

BABE -- Jerry Goldsmith. Dan Goldwasser of Soundtrack.net learned:
"Yeah, I was surprised when I heard that too, but it was Jerry himself sharing the story with us in the booth at the LOONEY TUNES scoring session. Apparently producer George Miller wanted the film to be SUPER dark, and Goldsmith's score wasn't meshing with what he wanted.... and the director kinda shifted sides and then Goldsmith walked."
He also said Goldsmith walked out mere weeks before the recording was to happen and that Jerry wrote 90% of the score AND that they cut a LOT of violent stuff from the film. I originally had this under "Demos" until an astute reader caught in a magazine where Goldsmith said he recorded it with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (they also did Nigel's score); way to go! (you know who you are). [Nigel Westlake.]

It's contradictory information, saying that he walked out before it was set to record, then saying he recorded it in Melbourne.

I'm agreeing with you on this list - it's most likely what will/may come out this year.

...I will go with Varese for Chinatown though.

AND there is always Prometheus, which was unusually quiet in 09...

I'd like it if Varese Sarabande would reissue their nearly 13-year-old release of PLANET OF THE APES, this time minus the suite from ESCAPE, with anything from the original session recordings we haven't heard, with the audio given the latest technology cleanup (such as what was done at FSM with THE OMEGA MAN 2.0), a new booklet with commentary by Nick Redman and Jon Burlingame, no photos that are flipped (the current one is full of them), and cover art more like the old Intrada release (POTA is an American film after all).

Rory, can you clarify what you mean by stating that POTA is an American film? Can't figure out how that's part of the argument to have it re-released. Not being facetious, honestly, just wanting clarification.
