Conti's theme for Napoleon And Josephine: A Love Story is also fantastic, same style as North And South. It also has a good score by Gerald Fried. It would make a great release.

Yes Definitely!!! I'd buy the Score CD in a heartbeat, with Conti's Awesome Main Theme incorporated into Gerald Fried's superb score:

Oh and that Jackie Bisset even now at 65 years old, still gives me a total boner!

One score I really enjoy is "Grand Canyon: The Hidden Secrets". The sound quality isn't so good, but it's great music. I wonder why his Niagara score was never released since his other two IMAX scores were? Maybe someday.

Can you describe what the exact problem with the IMAX scores are? Everyone mentions the quality is bad - but never WHY? Is there tape hiss or sound artifacts or what?

Not a soccer fan at all, but Victory is kickass!

I love the way "Don't Leave" builds and erupts into absolute, thrilling jubilation nearing the end.

Hi LeHah! There's no tape hiss or sound artifacts, it's just muffled. Grand Canyon that is, Yellowstone is fine. I wouldn't let that keep you from buying Grand Canyon however, it's a very good score. I hope that helps.smile

I've wanted to buy it but it seems to be increasingly hard to find.

I had never heard of UNCLE JOE SHANNON untill Intrada released it a few weeks ago.

But I must say I liked it quite a bit,
especially Seascape and Uncle Joe Theme.

Another great Conti score is "Five Days From Home". The main theme was later reused for "Lifestyles Of the Rich And Famous". If you're interested you can get an lp copy on ebay from time to time.smile

I guess the producers of "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" must have been big Conti fans, as I remember they used "Runaway" from For Your Eyes Only on the show quite a bit as well. I remember when I was much younger and the show would come on, and I would wonder why the show kept playing James Bond music.

As for my favorite Conti scores, my favorites are For Your Eyes Only, Karate Kid II, and Adventures of Huck Finn. After hearing the theme for Huck Finn on the Varese 25th Anniversary collection I immediately ordered the cd.

Well, it's difficult choose only one. This is my TOP 5:

1. The Right Stuff
2. The Karate Kid scores
3. Masters Of The Uninverse
4. North and South
5. The Coolangatta Gold

The other his scores, that I really like: Yellowstone, Rocky, Bad Boys, Blood In Blood Out, Betrayed, Five Days From Home, Slow Dancing in the Big City, Murderers Among Us - The Simon Wiesenthal Story, Napoleon, Paradise Alley and Grand Canyon. I hope, that Five Days From Home will be someday released on CD.

Bill Conti wrote the score to a very average Baseball movie called 'The Scout'

The Finale to that movie rivals anything he did for Rocky and the Karate Kid. Unfortunately, the score has never seen the light of day - probably because of the poor performance of the movie.

I would love to see this(even if it's only the finale cue) released - perhaps this cue as a "filler" on another Conti score release.

I am glad to see Bill Conti getting released on CD. There were so many years where not much was available. Conti is in my top ten film composers. I love the Rocky scores of course. Most scores he did for a Stallone movie were really good. For Your Eyes Only, and Masters Of The Universe are my favorites.

Without any question Masters of the Universe, but I am also very fond of Cohen and Tate.

I've always liked BLOOD IN BLOOD OUT for its Hispanic "summer" feel.

However, I have a strong nostalgic relationship to the DYNASTY, FALCON CREST and NORTH & SOUTH themes (plus they're unashamedly romantic and melodic), so they deserve a mention too.

I'm very happy to see that you guys like Bill Conti. I know that Jerry Goldsmith is the majorities favorite composer here, but it's nice to see that Conti has fans too.smile

“Gloria”. I think it has everything for the movie – the energy and the wearyness in Gloria’s character, in the portrait of New York City, the ethnic aspects, some solid suspense stuff, unrestraint emotionality, the interchange between solo performance and big orchestra … I love it, and can never get enough of it.

I just listened to Conti's "Five Days From Home" lp again, it would make a most welcome cd release.

"Victory" would be #1 (the CD release of it was sadly a botch job with missing music that had been on the old boot) followed by "The Right Stuff".

Not to mention the fact that they consistently got the lead character's name wrong in the track list!
