Thor, I don't know if you found a design flaw, or are one.

Ouch! Good recovery.

I don't know if anyone's looked at how this reads on the actual CD's page, but it is hi-larious. For people looking to buy the CD, turning to the comments and finding this discussion will be like opening a door to a what you assumed was a CD shop and finding yourself stumbling into the middle of someone's private residence full of people in the middle of the weirdest argument you've ever seen.

Couldn't agree more, and that's one more reason for why they should be separated (discussions on the board can go in many different directions)! Is there any way we can move this discussion over to the CD comments thread so as not to "taint" the CD page?

Well bear in mind that this discussion has turned so surreal because you went out of your way to make it so. Warning somebody about potential problems and then going out of your way to create said potential problems doesn't prove much of anything.

And please don't pull out the ol' "we're busting our asses making these CD's for you and you'd better damn be grateful for it and shut up!" sympathy routine, as the CD's are not the issue here.

I recently took everyone off my Ignore List except Bruce Marshall and Cirtap. You made me regret giving you that second chance. I wish I could revel in being right about you, but it makes me feel uncomfortable that you are exactly everything I ever said about you.

Back to the depths of Tartarus with you.

Friends, the only reason I'm not locking this thread is that it's for our CD! Please, behave, and this is really my fault for making a snarky comment about Thor. Thor, I'm sorry. Please, everybody, let's lighten up.

Is it possibile for you just to delete all the off topic posts (and of course that would mean this one!)?

One of the best things about this CD is having the complete finale to Where Eagles Dare available at last, as some of these cues were abbreviated on the LP recording. While it is a bit long, it is nevertheless quite exciting.

I haven't really given Operation Crossbow a fair listen. I will when I get home from work today.

Operation Crossbow was a big surprise to me , I ordered the cd for Where Eagles but after giving Crossbow a listen I was pleasantly surprised.

You know, I actually like Thor, but this is one of the funniest lines I've read in a long, long time!!

Thanks Lukas!

moontrekker, i was just about to ask that question, u are the second person who said that about OPERATION CROSSBOW. so i guess i am asking an unfair question , but is CROSSBOW just as good as WHERE EAGLES DARE, or is it better, i only have the re-record of EAGLES,, anyone else? feel free to offer ur opinion, please.

Well, I prefer the original film tracks over the re-recording of Eagles from a sound quality perspective (performance-wise, they're very similar), but I do feel that it runs a bit long as a stand-alone listen. On the other hand, as I mentioned, there is a lot of exciting music in the latter portion of the film that just doesn't appear on the album.

I'm now giving that fantastic score a first listen... just received the great FSM CD that I should have already got my hand on long ago. I'm more than happy that this album hasn't sold out. big grin
Goodwin's music is given the wonderful presentation it deserves. As for the music itself, even darker, suspenseful cues are exciting: this is definitely one hell of a score, full of intensity.

Well this thread only took a full year to get to the topic!

The title music in WED is so much more effective with the OST ending instead of the big concert finale coda. It carries on the tension, is more meaningful than the familiar 'look at your watch and get bored' predictable ending. Goodwin sometimes seemed in his compilation albums to waste a tremendous proportion of pieces with the big tutti crescendos and hollow blow-outs. But the film ending of that excellent piece is worth the CD alone.

The WED entire soundtrack (inc source cues) + the album re-recording (from Ice Station) totals 2 hours 27 minutes and 56 seconds.

Nice one FSM!

Ordered. This is one that always beckoned patiently. That time is over, so it kicked me up the arse. Kick-ass score - geddit!
