You mean the search function? It is there, but you have to search for 'ducktales' rather than 'duck tales', otherwise it won't come up.

But I've always been dubious of the "movie version" being any different than the standard TV version; to my ears, it sounds like the same recording with a little reverb.

I used to watch the show regularly, and the movie version does not sound like the same recording at all.

Hardcore fan here (who put together a documentation of the TV episodes' music), can confirm that the movie version of the theme song is indeed different from the TV series. At least, the instrumental track is certainly a different recording from what's heard in the series. The vocal track, on the other hand, *might* be the same... but I'm not even sure about that, as the acoustics sound like it was recorded in a much bigger studio than the TV vocal track was. That might just be some fancy mastering trick, though.

I have to admit, it IS a bummer that the theme song isn't on there. But what truly concerns me is a potential backlash from casual fans (you know the people I'm talking about - the ones for whom the theme song is 90% of the show's appeal), who might pick this up with the automatic assumption it includes the song. I've always thought that any release of DuckTales music had better include the theme song, not for my sake, but because I could see rioting in the streets happening if it weren't included.

I agree. Intrada have been at this business long enough to know how fans react if something is missed off a CD, which is why I think this is a studio, legal or cost issue rather than a creative choice. Intrada would include it if they could. Hence my question above about whether it's mentioned in the liner notes.

To all those people saying 'you can get it elsewhere' - well, it's in the film, it starts playing at the end as Scrooge chases Dijon out of the house and down the street, it's part of the music in the film, and belongs on the soundtrack CD.

Any mention of Duck Tales amongst my friends instantly gets them singing the song. It's part of their childhood.

Does it saying anything in the liner notes about why the Duck Tales theme was omitted from the End Titles? Licence prohibitive I'm assuming.

John "Wedge" Takis explains that the theme was added in post, not by Newman. (Another poster suggests it's just the otherwise-available television version, anyway.) Since this is a David Newman album, I would think it's likely they simply presented his score as intended, without tossing in an existing song that was inserted into his score after he'd finished it.

This response is from SchiffyM from the hint thread for this release. I agree with his post, and want the album as it was presented. big grin

Oh, I'm not suggesting the End Credits track should have been presented in the whittled-down manner it was in the film. My thought was that it would've been great to have the full End Credits as recorded by Newman PLUS the movie version of the theme song, both with and without vocals. But considering the disc was already pushing the 74-minute mark, maybe they wouldn't have been able to fit it, even if there was no licensing issue.

This is magnificent news, I've been wanting the Tinker Bell releases for YEARS - I just have never been able to. Money issues. And although the sale is nice, for non-americans, at the end is still expensive frown

Great deal and great scores! Highly recommended. I wish that Intrada would release the rest of these Tinker Bell scores. At least the Secret of the Wings score...

That is a great deal. Anyone who doesn't have McNeely's fantastic Tinker Bell scores needs to get them now. The second is my favorite, but Secret of the Wings (the fourth) might just barely tie it, so I'm with you in longing for a complete release of that one. I love wintry sounding stuff. ?

Don't forget "Pirate Fairy" and "Never Beast"! We only have digital releases of those two. The Tink scores are sweeping and beautiful. I've burnt a MP3 disc of all the Tink scores I own- their in constant rotation in my car.

I haven't forgotten them and would happily buy physical complete editions if Intrada released them, but I like Secret of the Wings better than either of them and unlike them, it doesn't even have a download version available.

I'm curious. Of the ones available on CD, which would you chaps most recommend?

Well, there is a download of (Tinker Bell And) The Pirate Fairy, but you can't get it from UK outlets!

Well my favorite is the 2nd (Lost Treasure). It has a great new adventure theme (among others) in addition to all the lovely themes of the original, and some of the very best action music. The first is a great introduction to the world and the initial 15-20 minutes is just exquisite, but after that it gets a bit more episodic due to the nature of that first film. Lost Treasure has more plot at the heart of it, and a journey quest which gives the music more of a journey as well. Of the three released by Intrada so far, the third is my least favorite even though it also has new unique themes. I'd just call it a four star score instead of a five star score like the second and most of the first.

Anyone who has their copy already, can you tell me if the booklet has a cue assembly list with slate numbers? Thanks!

I don't, but just wanted to say your Duck Tales score page is a hell of a piece of work, sir. Dedication!

Ah, I see.

Well, nuts. The cue assembly list, along with tech talk, is often my favorite part of Intrada booklets. But then, I AM pretty doggone weird.

Thanks! It sort of felt like something I HAD to do to show people how desperate I am for a release of the TV series score.

I`ve been listening to that CD now for 3 days in a row. This is such a beautiful, amazing, entertaining, creative, lively and inventive score. I can simply not understand how anyone who likes imaginative orchestral filmmusic can not love this score.

Thank you David Newman for composing this masterpiece and thank you Intrada for releasing it.

Revisiting Brave Little Toaster's score and being reminded what a masterwork that is encouraged me to add a new David Newman score to my library, and I settled on this one with what little birthday money I had left. We'll see how this turns out!..
