I hope, ROBOCOP 2 will get a Deluxe Edition in the near future too.
And a CD release or Best-Of CD, from the TV series is also very welcome(a project for LA-LA LAND?) !

Too bad there are no samples of the album (same goes for Hellboy and Jagged Edge)... and I'd like to know why.

There are some ncie cues in the TV series, and Poledouris' theme even finds it's way into some of them, but it was recorded in Canada, so much like the scores of "Due South" and most of "MacGyver", it's not possible since they won't play ball (at least right now) with the re-use fees.

Don't hold your breath for any of these in the near future.

I'm in for an expansion of RoboCop 2 as well, but I'm sure the chances are slim to none. I'll guess I'll just have to comfort myself with the two best scores in the series until then. big grin

It's going to be great to finally have all the unreleased material. The music for Robo's flight, the armory break-in and escape, Lewis' car chase, and many more! Aaaaaaah! I'm too excited for my own good!

Wait, why is ROBOCOP 2 off the cards?

Wait, why is ROBOCOP 2 off the cards?

It gets a bad rap because many people don't think Rosenman's style suited the film. While I'd have preferred a reality in which Poledouris scored it, the only dodgy moment in the score (for me) is the women singing "Robocoooop" during the end credits.

Varese might not think there's any profit in it.

That can't be the reason. There's plenty of detractors around here, but I'm sure there's 2000 casual ROBOCOP fans who'll buy it. I'm not a huge Rosenman fan myself but I'd pick up his score if only for completist sake, although I do enjoy this one.

This is a great release, I will buy it soon. I'm now getting into Basil's music. I found QUIGLEY DOWN UNDER at F.Y.E. and love it. Thanks Varese.

I would be a + 1 for an expanded Robocop 2 CD. I don't own any edition and even though it may not be as popular I can't help but like the difference of the music compared to the first film. I'm sure labels have put out worse sellers.

Good choice Henry! I think Basil will quickly become one of your new favorites.

Henry, Basil Poledouris is to me what Bill Conti is to you. I can't recommend his music highly enough.

I love John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith, John Barry, etc. - but Basil's music hits me in a personal way I can't even explain.

Well put. Basil really tended to put all his heart and soul into his music -- the wonderful FSM portrait video got that across beautifully.

Is there a more soulful score than Wind? I certainly haven't heard it.
"The Dinghy Race" is one of my absolute favorite cues in all of film musicdom!

No one from Varese has actually said anything about RoboCop 2 as far as I know. People are assuming, so I'm assuming why they're assuming.

I would love to see a DVD release for that documentary. Both of my VCRs are now in movie heaven.

It was actually released as a bonus feature on a Twilight Time Blu-Ray for some Basil-scored film, can't remember which...
