Hi, Essankay & wayoutwest (& Leo, if he's still around these FSM parts) Months ago, I bought the LP on CHIAMATE 22?-?22 TENENTE SHERIDAN and I have no regrets. Sure, we collectors of Italian soundtracks would love content such as this to be released on compact disc but this prospect doesn't seem likely. If you have a turntable (I have always kept a turntable for myself since I began collecting around 1985), then I recommend you attempt to purchase this Trovajoli LP - purportedly there's only 7 remaining according to Four Flies' website...: Thanks, Zardoz, but I'll pass. Having lived through the LP era I can say that I have no fondness for vinyl except as artifacts. I'm no more likely to take up LPs again than I am to return to VHS. At this point I'd prefer a good quality download to an LP. And as appealing as this Trovajoli album is, the world is filled with great music that I can acquire in more acceptable formats, so it's easy to say no. And being able to say no is actually quite liberating. I'm happy for you and all other vinyl enthusiasts that it's available, though. Snap more or less feel the same as Essankay. Have yet to go down the download route they have come in handy for listening to sound samples when nothing else can be found on YouTube etc...though some downloads are no longer available. The last few years everything has got more expensive mostly because of higher postage and exchange rates especially when buying new releases. Good news has been that many older releases can now be bought a lot cheaper on the secondary market compared to some years back.

Interesting to read the diversity of replies to this unexpected 'vinyl-only' fad affecting a number of items released during this time period. True, we all decide our own priorities with respect to editions currently available. Whilst Chiamate 22-22 Tenente Sheridan is not considered by me to be an indispensable essential Trovajoli album, it ranks with me as a good '3-star' work. Nonetheless, I wasn't able to resist acquiring it or bear not having the previously unavailable cues. If my CD-lovin' peers permit me to indulge myself, then I'll continue to ramble along and chat about my thoughts on Chiamate 22-22 Tenente Sheridan plus similar releases. The initial RCA EP had 2 tracks lasting around 6.5 minutes: Curiously, the soundtrackcollector website doesn't yet acknowledge the existence of the Four Flies re-issue & expansion and lists only this 45 r.p.m. The Four Flies' 2016 version has 16 cues, with each side of the LP lasting around 16 minutes If this were to be issued as a stand-alone title on CD, then the CD would be approximately 32 minutes in length and likely cost $19.99. 32 minutes has been a rather typical runtime duration for LPs in the 1960s, so the content of Chiamate 22-22 Tenente Sheridan seems a natural fit for the vinyl record format. The price, though, is not $9.99 (the cost of a new release soundtrack LP during the mid-1980s). One thing I remember from the 1980s was that the CD counterparts for the LP versions cost at least $5 more for the newer medium than the older LP format. Retailers would sell soundtrack LPs for $8.99 or $9.99 whilst the CD versions might cost $15.99 or greater - upwards to $19.99. Nowadays premium price is placed upon the LP instead of the CD. I saw Chiamate 22-22 Tenente Sheridan initially priced at over $30 ... but (half-a-year-later), when the price was reduced to around $23.99, I pounced on it. In my mind, I think the cost is over-priced yet likely a necessity. When I think about how a few labels issue some vintage titles on a not-for-profit basis ... plus pondering upon the costs incurred when sound engineers spend so much time attempting to lovingly restore master tapes whose sound qualities can range between quite poor to surprisingly good considering their decades-long entropy in vaults ... then I no longer have issues regarding costs and formats. For me, acquiring albums is ultimately about obtaining the music and not necessarily about satisfying my personal criteria. High costs or media formats are secondary considerations underneath the priority of making such music available prior to master tapes’ eventual oblivion.

Lot of great score mentioned here. I'll ad one I love too, a bit unusual, but lot of fun.

Also reissued by Cinevox is Ortolani's UNO SCANDALO PERBENE. Any thoughts about this one? In the meantime you can listen to almost all of the former Cinevox LP and CD albums on Youtube. I think Cinevox put all of their old albums also on iTunes and Spotify. Here the complete old LP version of Ortolani´s UNO SCANDALO PERBENE with 26 minutes which for me is a rather mediocre affair and certainly not one of the best scores by Ortolani: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rkMrhpknIzk&list=PLM3G0aTEFKMGhJhm4V3wA5r5-ZChk9H6G
