Lust of the Vampire, another Elizabeth Báthory model, has music by Roman Vlad!

This is Freda's I Vampiri, which was on a double-disc Digitmovies album with Caltiki.
Has Ag^Janus been able to snag a copy of that out-of-print gem?
Or perhaps Ag^Janus is hoping that Quartet will re-issue that Vlad ...

Fortunately I have the double Caltiki/I Vampiri, it was difficult to obtain a few years back. I would like more Vlad.

Riz Ortolani remains an enigma, I'm grateful for more of his work especially this genre. However I was not especially excited by Danza Macabra "Castle of Blood", nevertheless I'm certain to order Horror Castle.

Kudos to Quartet.

Splendid Digitmovies album - glad you were able to find one for yourself (it is certainly worth the effort, isn't it?).

Stefan Schlegel (after he had interviewed Roman Vlad years ago) mentioned that little else exists on Vlad's music. So we won't be getting a soundtrack for 1962's L'orribile segreto del Dr. Hichcock. If one gets an opportunity to view this movie, then please do so - Vlad's score for Dr. Hichcock is not unlike a piano concerto.

If you wish for more Vlad music, try to locate this "music & arts" CD with Le ciel est vide (The Sky is Empty) ...

... even if the sky is empty, your ears won't be! smile

Not to derail this thread on Quartet's new releases, Ag^Janus, let me suggest a couple of Ortolani discs that I have liked the most.

The 1964 Danza Macabra is probably my 3rd favorite Ortolani. The 2 albums I enjoy even more are 1) the 1965 EuroSpy flick Berlino, appuntamento per le spie on Saimel & 2) his very early Ursus nella valle dei Leoni - a 1961 peplum.

"The Seasons" is a mixed bag. There are several samples, including the whole thing, on youtube.

While it has a lot of interest and engaging tracks, they often don't go anywhere and don't seem to have a structure for the most part. Plus stylistically it's a little here and there, if you catch my drift.

Some people will be glad they purchased it, but for my money it's a used-price purchase.

The German label Ostalgica has now released an expensive Blu-Ray set of L´ORRIBILE SEGRETO DEL DR. HICHCOCK limited to 1000 copies and in addition a "soundtrack CD" with the score by Roman Vlad:
https://www.amazon.de/Das-schreckliche-Geheimnis-Hichcock-Ungeschnittene/dp/B0788YKWM9

I have asked the label manager what the source for this soundtrack CD was. And I have received the reply that it comes from the M&E track of the Italian version of the film which they had at their disposal. But as there are apparently only very few effects on this M&E track which disturb the music they found it worth the effort to release this soundtrack CD as a bonus on this Blu-Ray set.
At least it is the next best thing regarding a release of the original score we can expect as the original master tapes of the music are quite simply lost.
