Listening to one now...

Jonathan Sheffer's IN A SHALLOW GRAVE. It was released as part of the Varese Sarabande CD Club line in 2008 yet sells for pennies on the dollar on the second hand market. It's an absolutely gorgeous score with more than a tinge of melancholy. Highly recommended by the likes of me.

Starting at 99 cents with two days remaining (not my auction): http://www.ebay.com/itm/In-A-Shallow-Grave-Soundtrack-/321297873279?pt=Music_CDs&hash=item4aced8797f

dan, good choice. This movie was released when I was in school and I have always had a soft spot for Irish stories and music. Thank you for bringing these memories back.

Doesn't that just figure! I bought an extra copy of this at the time with the intention of reselling at a higher price - a scheme I have always felt queasy about as it just prevents another person out there from getting their own copy at a fair price. But this one time I gave in to the temptation and - serves me right! ;-) Of course, my extra copy's still sealed....

But gorgeous, unique score that has long made me curious to see the film.

I'm going with the extremely lovely THE BLUE LAGOON by Basil Poledouris. It's an endless wellspring of simply gorgeous melody from start to finish. The merits of the film can be debated but the score is just plain ravishing.

Couldn't agree with you more. One of my favorite soundtracks of all time. You said it, from beginning to the end constant memorable melodic beautiful music. I always consider it THE nutcracker suite of film scores. Back in my vending days since the LP was easy to get I used to buy copy's and handed them out free with their record purchases from me.
