I regrettably sold my copy of the Japanese CD release of Newman's AIRPORT about 10 years ago during a cash crunch and had been searching for a replacement copy ever since. The search is finally over, and the reunion is oh so sweet to my ears.

Thankfully, I held onto the Japanese CD release of Cacavas' AIRPORT 1975, which I'd bought alongside AIRPORT all those years ago, and they once again stand side by side in the collection in all their disastrous glory.

And where did you find such an excellent work? Do tell.
Listening to the various versions of my favorite TV show theme, "Eye Level" (Theme from "Van der Valk"), best known in the recording by the Simon Park Orchestra. This is a lovely live version with them on the BBC:
Alternatively:
Both are from "Top of the Pops", and are beautiful examples of how to shoot a stylized video of an orchestra performing (love that shot through the strings of the harp in the second clip).
The theme was originally composed by Jack Trombey for the "De Wolfe Library of Music" [whose influence on British TV and film music has yet to be fully discussed), and then picked up by Thames TV for the show.
Those were the days when a purely instrumental theme, boasting a real(!) arrangement, could hit the top of the charts.
TO GARY S- Be cool- I know it was a tough weekend. Oh well last year the world series , this year the playoffs. We are going backwards. maybe some day they will win it all. But you know, it's ok, it was a good year just like last year. As long as they compete it was a good year.
