Got my shipment confirmation from Amazon this morning, it arrives tomorrow! I used store credit towards it and have the free 2 day shipping, so it only cost me $336. Not bad!

I never understood how people justify having "store credit" means it costs less. Assumedly you had to pay something somewhere to get the credit as it obviously didn't come from thin air.

Traded in some old schoolbooks from college. Their costs were spread out over several years and none were from the past year or two, so it feels like free money. wink

Yes, finally it has arrived today. But boy, it was not easy. I had to make sure that it wasnt delivered to my home when I was at my office and have my family explode when the customs duty charges were to be paid. While priority shipping from amazon.com via DHL wasnt that high enough. Sigh!. So while online tracking made it easier, I called the courier and requested for a self pick just in time and also confirmed the exact customs duty -thats about $75 and thats addition to the amazon.com bill which was around$528 ( shipping included) . I now had to pick this from their office at the airport. So at lunch break drove at their office and managed to pick the box which wasnt the same cardboard package which had the first run but instead o a much smaller Amazon.com packing. I inspected the box and discoverd to my nightmare that the customs had opened the box and had ripped the cover of the music box from the 3 sides to figure out the music box and the zoetrope for inspection. There was no point in making a scene so I decided to head home and eventualy fix it. So using some glue and I was able to reassemble the 3 sides in the afternoon and also got new batteries to replace the original and now the top cover looks neat. The whole pacakge looks fantastic and its nice to have this set. The cds, the book, the design, the dvd, the usb everything else is stellar. Glad to have this finaly. What a day......!

I was just at Amoeba SF and they have a copy for sale!

Amer, I just want to commend you on your post. THIS is a true good hearted film score fan. Yah, there was some issues, but instead of complaining and wanting world, you did some minor fixing and it's good as new. I wish more people posted like this. Anyway, great story, SO GLAD, it came and you were able to fix the kinks. It's a pretty damn impressive set, if you ask me.

Anyway, that's all, just wanted to say, your post was awesome!!

Got mine from Amazon - it's still in the box. And for whatever reasons, it only ended up costing about $460.

The set just arrived. It's awesome! Love all the detail. Does anybody know how to turn the music chip off?

When you turn over the lid, so to speak, where the actual zoetrope metal thing is, in one of the corners, there is a darker round spot, push that and that should do it. I had to unscrew the four screws because mine was WAY too touchy. You just looked at it and it would go off. Unscrewed them and looked at the actual music box part, it has an on/of switch as well. I rescrewed them back on not as tight and it works great.

But there is an on/off switch, if you unscrew those four screws my friend.

Okay thanks! I'll probably just leave it as it is - I thought that it would play every single music box tune before shutting off, I didn't realize it was just one of them.

I'm lisenting to NIghtmare and the new cues sound great! Can't wait to listen to the rest of the music, read the book, and watch the DVD. Excellent set, worth the wait!

I know it was a million years ago, in forum years, but I love the photos Jeff Bond uploaded! XD Especially "Storytime". Jeff, if you're about - you've done a fantastic job on this book, thank you. It was my daydream for many a year to write Danny's biography, purely because I wasn't going to be happy until one existed. (I even wrote to the poor man asking to do it - hopefully that letter never got through!)

Thank goodness that one does exist now, and one that was written so well and so lovingly. It's awesome to see you being as excited for the box as we are, and as excited to have your book in it as I would've been XD There's some fascinating stuff in there that I never knew, and I can now rest at ease knowing that Danny's life has been fittingly imortalised. Thanks for all the work!!

I too just looked at those photos (I didn't want to be spoiled by seeing the exact setup of the box before I got mine) and I agree, they are great. I would love to stroll through Richard Kraft's office, it looks awesome. Were those pieces of the Disneyland Haunted Mansion ride in one of the photos?!
