I have a soft spot for this score and movie -- thanks for the heads up about selling out. Ordered from SAE just now.

That was fast.
You know if these labels could coordinate their releases better they would get more sales from me. Shipping is a bitch when you can't even leave it a week to tie in with another release you want.

They don't care, they still sell out. Why would it matter to them if you bought it or some one else did?

Whew! Almost missed out on this. It has always been a favorite of mine amongst Williams's early work.

http://www.moviemusic.com/soundtrack/M09090/fitzwilly-expanded/

http://www.beatrecords.it/shop.asp?idprodotto=MBR-035&lingua=i

That is at least two places (that I can think of) that have it available for pre-order. I don't know how many copies these companies have ordered or what kind of a system they keep to assure the amount of pre-orders doesn't exceed the number of copies they themselves have ordered. So I'm not promising every John C.D. Collector can get their Fitzwillies through these links.

Suddenly disappeared from SAE. Music Box got a boost with this. More from the French please.

Suddenly disappeared from SAE.

Suddenly?
To tell you the truth, it took this title a little bit more to sell out than I had expected.

Three days is too long?

Considering that Music Box Records is a relatively new label with a catalog of titles that most people outside of France are not familiar with, I think three days is mighty fast.

Oh yes, Music Box is not Intrada or Varese Club (remember the days when a title was sold out just a few hours after its release?) but it's not > insert appropriate label roll eyes < either!...

BTW, the guys there are doing an excellent job with all these French scores - they certainly deserve more attention!

It's a 1000-copy only presentation of a John Williams score that has only been officially available on CD once - and which fetches insane amounts on the secondary market. I'd say the expectations for a quick sell-out were in order.

Well, considering some scores that have been released in the past years featuring sound issues (hiss, wow, volume fluctuations, dry sound etc.) and not having branded it "Archival Edition", we can easily come to the conclusion that our friends from MusicBoxRecords have "Beyond Honesty" branded on their label front door !

The only "issue" (mind the brackets !) I have came across is the already aforementioned dialogue bleed, which is exactly the same kind as in LaLaLand's SECONDS and maybe less (I remember I was actually able to catch some lines on the SECONDS CD).

So yes, there are more tracks with dialogue bleed but after listening to the score twice, without using earphones, I don't find it distracting at all.

And there's a tiny hiss on a track featuring organ and maybe two or three very brief volume fluctuations.

That's all.

And I hardly can believe I'm actually pointing out these (once again considering previous CD releases from other labels featuring actual sound issues) because the mono sound is great to my ears, not dry at all, and that score is a completely different listening experience over the album.

Very happy with this release !

The complete score will be nice to have but I really look forward to the remastered album presentation.

I originally bought the Tsunami CD years ago; after the Varese club came out, I sold the Tsunami and bought the Varese (coupled with The Long Goodbye). Now it seems that I am buying Fitzwilly for a third time. It really is a highly enjoyable comedy score from Johnny and I look forward to the film tracks very much.

It is sad that many people obviously missed on this release but you never know when a next - and maybe better sounding if the masters are ever located - edition may come out.

I am happy this is happening but sure would like some of JW's music that has not been released - well released. i.e., Secret Ways and Sugarland Express (both on one CD). I can dream can't I?

Is it November 19th yet?
