So did the Lakeshore release reuse the music from "Bradley and Norman", "Brothers", and "Motorcycle Ride" from the Varese release? Or just the track titles? I was wondering b/c each of those tracks share the same track titles on both releases.
"Bradley and Norman" and "Motorcycle Ride" are the same, "Brothers" is different.
But the Varese release features selections season 1 and 2, the Lakeshore release offers tracks from season 3 and 4. I have not thoroughly tracked down whether the series itself reuses cues - but if you like the music you will not be disappointed if you purchase both.
Thanks for clearing that up. I was planning on purchasing the Lakeshore release regardless.
So, we got two CD's from this ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT series so far. The Varese covered the first two series (I think), while the Lakeshore edition repeated a few tracks from the Varese, but mainly covered series 3 and 4. All we need now is a disc to cover the (at times) very Herrmann-esque 5th season, which featured, arguably, the best music of the whole series. During the early seasons, hardly any of the music registered with me on any level other than 'engrossed in the characters and plot' and did a fine job guiding me. It was series 4 and 5 in which I started to really hear the themes and motifs Bacon had been working with and the whole 'sound world' he had created during the series' run. Anyone know of any plans to release a CD of music from the final season?
I tend to blind buy on newer scores, because i don't have much love in viewing TV/Films anymore, I've heard the score from You-Tube & yes its a nice-score, before that i never knew who Chris Bacon was.
