With this Bernstein release is this an indication that 'The Ten Commandments' is coming very soon this year? -------- IMO, all it indicates is that 'The Miracle' is coming next week.
The Miracle is simply one of Elmer Bernstein's finest scores. It's in his top ten at least. No need to hesitate. This is the THE release of the year for me.

This Wikipedia description mentions some reasons why The Miracle wasn't successful:
"The 1959 film was panned by critics, and had the misfortune to be released to theatres the same week as MGM's Technicolor widescreen version of Ben-Hur starring Charlton Heston - one of the most successful epic films of all time. Even worse, Warner Bros. had earlier that same year released The Nun's Story, a film starring Audrey Hepburn in which the main character was also a nun having doubts about her vocation, as in The Miracle."
I saw this film on TCM at some point over the past year (or a little more than year). I found it quite entertaining, somewhat moving, and the score is really wonderful. It's one of Carroll Baker's best performances. And Roger Moore fans will have a treat with him as her leading man.

Glad to see HOCUS POCUS is available, but I have the promo. I do not know much about THE MIRACLE, but it will be purchased. Does this sound like THE TEN COMMANDMENTS? The art work looks epic.

I'm not trying to be rude, but why would this release be an indicator of anything beyond this release?
No offence taken and you are correct in pointing out that 'The Miracle' is no indicator of what may follow. However we were informed that The Ten Commandments is coming sometime ago, maybe just maybe Intrada may release two Bernstein epic scores back to back. I like the many others are just hoping it arrives this year!

The Wikipedia comparison makes no sense. BEN-HUR didn't go on general release at the end of 1959; it played selective roadshow engagements so it wasn't in competition to films on general release like THE MIRACLE. I saw the film on first release (early 1960 in the UK I think)and although I don't remember much about it, I do remember thorougly enjoying it. Sadly this CD is likely to be in mono which is a drawback for such a major score.

I absolutely agree --
It is a "holy grail" that did not seem likely to be released -- thank you Intrada.
WB Archives has said that the Technirama elements are in need of major restoration -- maybe since those statements go back at least three years, they dont believe the film is worth the cost to properly restore it.
TCM has shown THE MIRACLE several times, but only in pan-and-scan versions.
The music is the best thing in it; all the rest of it seems more like some kind of higher-budgeted made-for-TV movie. The script is stilted, and performances seem self-conscious. None of it can hold a proverbial candle to the infinitely better crafted BEN-HUR. (And, let's face it, blond Roger Moore in his prime, is actually prettier than star Caroll Baker...)
But Bernstein's score is brilliant, and creates a mood for the piece that raises it much higher than it really deserves. Hope the new release includes the choral elements, which Bernstein did not have in his own attempt at re-recording parts of it for his FilmMusic Collection.
Many thanks for posting the suites. I am more concerned about the sound quality before I jump on this one, much as I want to hear how True Grit sounds before I buy it. To me I'd rather pass on a score if the sound is not up to my standards. Thankfully, Intrada always gives you enough samples to determine if it is good enough.
