A weak and wimpy score that is partly responsible for the general air of blandness and tedium "radiated" by Polanski's earnest but unengaging remake of Oliver Twist. I do like Portman's work for Welcome to Wellville and War of the Buttons, but her scores generally are too genteel and bland to generate much interest. This thing would have needed a powerful score by the likes of David Arnold e.g. to liven it up!
The first score Buon Funerale Amigos!...Paga Santana (Have a Good Funeral, My Friend... Sartana Will Pay/Stranger's Gold) (1970). Highly melodic with some great trumpet and guitar work.
