I ordered it even though I have the Intrada version.

Myself as well -- although for those of us who are fortunate enough to have copies of the Intrada, I view this as more of a supplement than a replacement. Some (as with Kim Tong, above) may prefer the older mix -- and I'd like to think that the liner notes for the Intrada release will remain of interest, being based on in-depth conversation with maestro Rosenthal. He also wrote his own section of the notes, sharing personal reflections concerning the project. But I am in total agreement that this is a film music masterpiece, and deserves to be heard and enjoyed by all devotees of the art form. If it were solely up to me, it would never be out of print!

Just to be clear - the mix isn't different - we just removed some of the artificial reverb which, for me, resulted in a tighter, cleaner sound - you can hear it in the samples. It's moving better than I thought it would, which is heartening. I don't think we'll be selling out this week, but I was pleased with the orders today.

I'm fully aware of that.

If there were current scores that were of interest to me, I might buy them instead.

I hope you'll be pleased with it - for me, it's kind of a different listening experience and one I'm very happy with smile

The Miracle Worker has been released twice before on CD – once on a composer promo and once by Intrada. The latter edition sold out very quickly. It’s always a tough call when doing a rerelease of a limited edition title, but in the case of The Miracle Worker there was no question – the music deserves to be heard by the widest audience possible and because of its quick sellout it never really had a chance beyond the film music collector market.

Glad to see it is selling well, just confused with the statement above. How is this going to be heard by the widest audience possible if only 1000 copies are made? 75% of these are going to be bought by the same people that have the first release, as an upgrade and the rest will be purchased by the people that missed out on the the Intrada release and this covers the film collector market. So, anyone that is not a real film collector will still find it hard to get a copy of this score. This is a score that needs to be in print for awhile. By the time any advertizing or word of mouth is passed around, they will have to find it on eBay, Amazon.com, etc. We all know that many people buy more than one copy to sell. It is just too bad that our hobby has turn into a big money maker for the people who can afford multiple copies and those who really want it will miss out.

I have chosen to stay with the Intrada release because I do not feel I need to upgrade and that leaves a copy for someone that missed out on the Intrada release. Too bad that really just leaves a copy for someone else to buy and resell.

"Kim Tong" I don't know you (or maybe I do) but there is a slightly negative tone to most of the posts you've made in our threads. You don't need to upgrade and that's fine and your choice. Why go on about it after your initial post? Why is my statement confusing? Many of the sales we've had this time around are to fans of the film rather than film music fans - why is that difficult for you to understand. I am, I'm happy to say, pretty good at getting the word out beyond this little community. Do you honestly think that Laura and A Place in the Sun sold out so quickly because it was just people on this board. No. It's because I got to the film fans. We don't always know how that's going to go, but it does help push sales up. The Miracle Worker, while it is moving better than I could have expected, is not going to sell out this week or next week, unless there's a great surge in orders, which, I suppose, could happen. I would have thought Preminger at Fox would have been gone days ago - we had fifty left then and we still have thirty of those fifty - go know.

Kim Tong - The fact that we have seen this specific score re-issued relatively quickly after the Intrada sell-out suggests that there is no longer as much of a value for a score that sells out fast. Many of the quick sell-outs are coming back and being made available for fans. I doubt anyone in this thread who suggested they were buying a second copy are doing so just to sell one. They appreciate different versions of a score and appreciate Bruce's approach to mastering as compared to what they do at Intrada.

What happened to actors like Anne Bancroft?

"Don't get up. Don't smooth anything else out for me. Don't interfere in any way. I treat her like a seeing child because I ask her to see. I expect her to see! Don't undo what I do!"

My favorite lines uttered by an actor in any movie.

Can you imagine Bancroft and Duke performing this play -- including the physical battle -- night after night on Broadway? What a wrenching, moving film, one that holds up incredibly well to this day. No one can touch the performances of Anne Bancroft and young Patty Duke. I have the Intrada release of this score but have also ordered the new Kritzerland, both for whatever improvements it contains and also to support and encourage the continuing series of knockout Silver and Golden Age releases from Kritzerland. Keep that great music flowing!

I saw the show on Broadway with Patty Duke. However, Bancroft had already left and a very excellent Suzanne Pleshette was playing the role.

So, here we have repeat releases of Golden Age scores, like LAURA and MIRACLE WORKER, and yet, over on another thread, I have been told no one wants to do a legit release of HELEN OF TROY, because they fear everyone already has illegit recordings of it.

Go figure.

(And, frankly, I'm getting to the point where I buy every Kritzerland release, simply for the care put into the sound...)

Very much appreciated - we're all about the sound smile

So, Bruce the K, can you release HELEN OF TROY?

I mean, you can do anything, you could surely do that?

Who put the Bath in the DAVID AND BATHSHEBA?

(That even sounds right on the same rhythm...)

If some kind soul gets me in at Warners I could certainly make the attempt.

I'm sitting here listening to the masters for three upcoming releases. Two will be of incredible interest to folks here, and one will be a tougher sell - and the latter is the addictive and amazing listening experience, although one of the others is close on its heals. But the winner, which was previously on CD in a very unsatisfactory and short presentation that wasn't at all satisfying, is one of the great score rediscoveries for me - an amazing piece of work - what a difference an extra forty-something minutes makes!

Could you give us some information about the year the films were released?
Are all three scores from the same period (i assume the 60`s)?

Best whishes.

Too early to give clews of any kind, although all three would have to be classified as somewhat atypical releases for Kritzerland in terms of era smile But Golden Agers need never fear - we have some rather amazing things coming.

Ok, thank you.

By the way: I also want to say how happy I was about your release of MISSOURI BREAKS.
It was a really great listening experience to hear the original recordings.
A true Gem for all Williams-Fans.

Are any more William-Scores from the 70`s planned to release by Kritzerland (like THE EIGER SANCTION for example)?
