Yeah, why wouldn't we want the guy who does also thematic writing doing a summer film?
Also, the casual sexism a few replies up here is pretty damn horrid.

I hope we aren't giving free passes to "Well he wrote a theme!" I don't remember the themes for Thor 2 or Iron Man 3 or whatever sequel # we're up to. Our expectations seem to have severely lowered....
Well, I remember them, particularly IM3, so I guess we even out the score there.
And yeah, in the days when everyone seems to complain about most summer pictures having "droning RC" scores, I think the guy who does consistently write themes should be appreciated. IM3 and (certainly) Now You See Me had two of the most memorable themes last year for me.

Ummm yep, Now You See Me and Iron Man 3 both had dynamite themes, and Iron Man 3 was just a solid, melodic and hard charging score start to finish.
Thor The Dark World was pretty damn good as well. If you can't remember Iron Man 3's theme...well... you weren't listening

I don't see how you would compare a theme for the protagonist in The Peacemaker to a world-renowned comic and (now) film legend, Iron Man. To further bury that point, Iron Man should have a theme every bit as recognizable as Batman or Superman. I like Brian Tyler's music sometimes (Children of Dune, Timeline, Sleepy Hollow, Far Cry 3), but absolutely NOTHING stuck out for me in Iron Man 3 or Thor 2. We disagree - GET OVER IT.
And sorry I was too busy being deployed in Afghanistan to 'worship music' last year, sport. Don't try to speak for me and pigeonhole me into some flippant fanboy worship. My iPod has nothing but Silvestri, Williams, Zimmer, Goldsmith, and Shirley Walker on it, and my iTunes has more than 50 different composers.

When the play the themes for the movies, do they not put a picture up on the screen anymore? If they do, that is probably why the audience recognized it. "Oh, this is that score, it was a good movie, let us clap." Even the people in the industry would not know the music. If they did we would not have had some of the winners we have had in the past. We have not watch the Oscars in years and we will never again.
