We should be demanding a higher quality of game scores instead of relishing in the tripe that is popular. We could get the same level of propulsion in action scoring with some added levels of quality. I'd have liked to see what Gary Schyman would have written for this.
EDIT: and no it is not just the percussion but how it is used. Percussion should be mixed much lower in a score. Lennie Moore wrote a powerful score with great use of percussion for a game called Outcast. Nothing by Brian Tyler even gets close to this.
I've listened to enough boring modern video game scores that I don't bother listening to the entire thing. Beyond and The Last of Us are both largely sonic wallpaper and don't go anywhere. Beyond at least has a theme though I'm not particularly enamored by it. I can only listen to so many uninspired video game scores before I tend to recognize them from the samples and learn to stay away. I should have listened to my gut and ignored Beyond but friends suggested I give it a shot and so I did.

Fucking A. It's so unfortunate that both Dante's Inferno and Front Mission Evolved flopped so he never got the big breakthrough that supposedly should follow the success of Bioshock.

Beyond Two Shit's "theme" is like something I could hum out when I take a shower. Lorne Balfe sometimes does pretty good "themes" considering his lack of education, but this time he's just phoning in with shitty block chords, synchronized instruments and lame cliched woman vocal.
Maybe he got bored with all the pretentious bullshit that David Cage cooked up.
The Last of Us, on the other hand, -- why do both pretentious Ellen Page escort games have "composers" without proper education?
what has Ellen Page got to do with The Last of Us?
absolutely nothing. she accused them of using her image for the character Ellie but that's about it. she was not a voice actor nor did she have any involvement in the game on any level.

Lol. She "accused" them? Is your brain burnt with entropy from your randomness?
Anyone with half a gram of a brain KNOWS this is borderline infringement of her celebrity likeness.
And what does this have to do with the music of Pirates of Ass Creed being shitty?
I do wonder why you post here, if all you do is posting negative stuff.
I also wonder why YOU post HERE.
You have anything substantive to say about Tyler and his (arguably shitty) music to Ass Pirates Creed? Apparently not.
All you do is parroting your dumbass friends' personal attacks against me. Seems you're really obsessed with me huh?
So why don't you either discuss about the music, or just STFU like a proper peasant?
As for "negative stuff," I apologize for choosing to vent my anger of a somewhat talented composer phoning in with shitty generic shit ruining one of my favorite game franchise, instead of participating in your circle jerking of praising shit like it's French cuisine.

It's not just me, all of us here are obsessed with you. When we are doing our circle jerk, it's you we think of, wishing that we all are as tough as you.
Seriously though, it's the creators of the game who wanted a Pirates-like score. Tyler just delivered what was asked of him. So if anyone is ruining your precious game, it's the studio that made and not just Tyler.
As for my opinion, it's like you said, pretty generic. Tyler is highly talented, but I prefer his smaller scores like The Lazarus Project, The Killing Room and Standing Up

See, I know you can talk like a normal human being and actually, you know, discuss about relevant stuff (I'm just going to ignore the stupid part about circle jerking cuz it ain't going anywhere).
And since we agree that this score is generic shit, let's rest our case. Whoever to blame, it matters not to me.
Pretty much what I expected from the samples. Tyler wrote many four and five minute cues that are completely unable of sustaining interest for that long. Nothing particularly interesting here, sounds like they wanted him to go Game of Thrones style and ended up just as derivative. And no, I didn't make it through the full score, far too long for that.

Even worse than Lorne Balfe's ACIII, if that's even possible. At least Balfe had a nice main theme.
Guess the mega-budget and that 1000-man production team really drive the last ounce of creativity out of this franchise.
