I know there are many, many people on this board who won't even look at this thread,

maybe they would if you wrote "a score to kill for" instead of "a score to die for," which, uh, sounds a bit femmy even with the bitch-slapping cover. wink

Excited for this, and hope to be able to grab it in June when I'm home for a few days. Nice one K.

Sounds excellent. I hear a certain SUBTERRANEANS vibe to it, and that's a good thing. Not so much in the melody (which is pure Raksin), but in the silky combination of jazz soloists and orchestral backing. I see that some of the personnel is the same.

Hope this sells well - I've never understood why Raksin is supposedly such a difficult sell, but hopefully this will appeal to jazz buffs too. Either that or it'll fall between too stools, which would be a pity.

No falling between the cracks - it's just a great score whichever way you look at it. I didn't expect it to be an instant sellout, as the film isn't that well known. I think once people have it (hopefully within the week if all goes according to Hoyle) and post about it, others will take the plunge.

It should be an instant sellout because of Raksin's name, regardless of how well known the movie is, but that's another - sad - story...

Sad indeed. But you can't force people, they just have to figure it out for themselves.

Could this forthcoming title be considered a golden age score [40's or 50's] ?

I don't believe it could. Over to you, Bennett Cerf.

Bennett: Would it be considered a Silver Age score then?

I suppose it would - but there's more than one score and I'll just say that however many there are could be considered Silver Age. Miss Kilgallen?

Are these scores connected more by a single composer rather than by a single genre of film?

I would say that would be a reasonable guess. On to Miss Francis.

Miss Kilgallen?

Are these scores from films that were originally released theatrically in the '60s?

Will this release bear the Kritzerland logo on its packaging?

Does the producer of this release answer to the name of Bruce Kimmel?

Am I asking too many questions to which the obvious answer is yes?

On to Miss Francis.

Are these scores by a composer of the Italian persuasion?
