So was the original soundtrack album completely rearranged/re-recorded? There's nothing from the film on it at all? (Looks that way from the tracklist.)

No, the original soundtrack was comprised of the same film takes used for the new presentation. Just mastered differently, and contain some alternates that are not on the first disc. Also the spiritual songs do not appear on Disc 1, only on Disc 2.

Really looking forward to this. Don't remember the film at all but you cant go wrong with a massively expanded Williams score.

Aha. Thanks.

I hope not remastered TOO differently. This is one of the best sounding Williams scores ever and was the first and last time Williams worked with the great Dennis Sands. I wish Sands recorded more of Williams' scores during that time period!

Awesome! Can't wait to hear it!!

I usually order soundtracks through SAE. Does anyone know if the price will be the same there? (Just trying to set my monthly budget.)

It will be the same price everywhere. Varese is the only label who charges other stores full price to stock their limited edition CDs, so they have to charge more.

Completely agree. Could have just used the actual Sony disc as-is.

Um.... won't that original OST disc still exist in the world after this new release? In fact, it looks like you can get it used on Amazon for 3.96 right now.

Has Matessino ever let you down before?

Disc 2, which contains the OST, was not remixed or anything. And the same music that appears on both discs won't sound radically different from each other at all.

We took out the digital pops and other imperfections that were on the original release

Love this score, but it will be odd listening to it without the spirituals. There's some considerable emotional punch in those that works so well with one of Williams' finest scores.

I have the OST. Is the extra music really worth to buy this expanded set? I thought the OST presentation was just fine.
