Can't wait to hear THE OUTSIDERS. What a shame Coppola ruined the soundtrack in his "Director's Cut," taking out countless cues his father wrote in favor of one of the most distracting "jukebox" song assemblies in film history. As much as I like the additional footage, the alterations he made to the music spoil that cut of the film for me.

I've just received "The Outsiders" today.

This CD can easily compare to most Intrada ou Lalaland editions, with its 25 page well filled booklet (which includes a note by Francis Coppola) and the quality of its design. Not to mention the wonderful lyrical music by Coppola Sr. I knew the music was lyrical and beautiful but I did not remember it was that beautiful. And the alternate version of Stevie's Stay Gold (actually the opening credit) without any drum but just his harmonica and the orchestra, is extremely moving.

One of the best releases of 2013 so far (I know it's only March but this edition has set some very high standarts!)

Some people are going to regret they hesitated...

Received my package from Music Box today - from France to Canada by way of two distinct postal services, including customs at this end of the line - in less than 4 days, including the weekend. Incredible!

In two short years, Music Box has built an impressive catalog of titles along with establishing sterling customer service. They are rapidly on their way to the number one spot on my labels list.

Gongratulations on all the great releases and keep up the good work.

Amicalement

P.S. Would a Daughters of Darkness (François de Roubaix) release be possible one day? A few tracks are available on various compilations, but so far an album release has eluded us. If any label can do this score justice, it is definitely Music Box! You guys are the best!

I dunno about SAE, but MovieMusic.com hasn't shipped mine out yet, so one assumes it's simply a matter of SAE not having gotten its 'stash' yet, not that they are getting extra or anything.

Ed at SAE confirmed they will have the discs for sale. Actually I only asked about "Napoleon," but I imagine they'll stock both.
Oh, I see you can actually place a pre-order at SAE. Never mind.

David Grove ought to be as well-known as Peak and Struzan, IMHO. I'm guessing his residence in San Francisco helped get him the "Outsiders" gig at Zoetrope.

any comments on the Kilar score? The clips are terrific, and it's just a year before DRACULA.

Sold out at MovieMusic...

I just received it this morning and am on a 2nd play now, I'm loving it. It certainly has a lot of that lyricism found in his Dracula score, particularly the music for Mina.

I love Kilar.

Daughters of Darkness is (unfortunately) not in our pipeline. But some other de Roubaix scores are planned to be released on Music Box.

Any clues for the upcoming releases?

And I look forward to more Roubaix scores; I have all the Music Box Roubaix releases and they are great. Pity Roubaix died so young.

Great! I'm always up for more and any de Roubaix. I know that someone is working on DAUGHTERS OF DARKNESS - Harry Kummel, the director of the movie, was interviewed over a year ago for the specific purpose of a soundtrack release. Therefore, if you are not (unfortunately) involved, then only one other label seems possible.

I'm still hoping for a CD of "La peau du torpedo" and complete "Tante Zita"by de Roubaix. Music Box Records is a great label doing a great work and it is very satisfying to hear that they will be releasing more de Roubaix soon.
