In a recent interview with Giorgio and Daft Punk, he's asked about his soundtracks. This is what he says about SCARFACE. Whether he's referring to the music at all, or just the film, I'm not sure.:
"I don’t particularly like Scarface. The intro part; that’s beautiful. The rest is really bad. The thing is, when that film came out it was a flop. One of the worst days I’ve had as a musician was when we played the movie to the audience. It was one of the official ones before the premiere. At the end... silence. No applause, not one clap. Some people started to boo. I just thought, ‘Oh God.’ I think he says ‘fuck you, fuck you’ 270 times at the end. But then the video came out, and it became a cult hit."

No. But he worked with Zimmer on that Oscar tune, "Giorgio's New Dancing Shoes".

Seriously, MUSIC SHOULD BE FREE JUST LIKE AIR, WATER AND SUNLIGHT. When did anyone put a price to bird's sounds? That is the real source of ALL music. We live in a severely consumerist, materialistic and depraved society where people just don't care for the less fortunate ones who can't even buy a square meal to save themselves. I'm assuming you actually believe that load (especially consideriung your poor user name), so let me help you out:
Air is there. Sunlight is there. Water is there. Nobody has to do anything for it to be on Earth.
Music is a creation that requires multiple levels of people and money to accomplish. Somebody had to make they keyboards he used. Somebody had to make every other tool or program he used. Those have to be purchased, which in turn pay the worker and the company and other companies that supplied the materials needed to make the parts. It's like an old-fashioned lead pencil: so many people are involved in it's creation from the wood, to the graphite, to the metal that holds the eraser on -- people across states and even countries (depending on the materials needed). The same goes for the vast majority of products. People and companies across the line from one state or another to one country or another, all looking to make a living, all invest time and energy and life into making these things. The same in music, whether with an orchestra, with some keyboards, or jsut a computer. All use materials assembled somewhere, from a company employing people, all hoping for a better living or even just a better job or career.
The music doesn't just sit there costing nothing, nor is it created for free either. For a score recorded at a studio with any number of players, you have a vault where it is stored. You have personnel for the vault(s). You have a security man, whether specifically for it or somebody who patrols other areas. You have interiors that need maintaining. You have air conditioning to keep a room temperature to hold the tapes safely. You have electricity, water, garbage -- all for the people there or who come in. You have a cleaning person. You have a archivist or what ever other positions, who research and maintain the property. You have transfer equipment (which also needs to be maintained). Basic repairs or upgrades. State, local and Federal permits and laws that require payments to be in compliance with. And more. All this costs money. Then after that you have various unions that in turn have fees put upon the music; or as MV (MV Gerhard, head monkey or La La Land Records) explained it:
I can't speak for others, but when you get right down to it $20 is just about as low as we can go.
Between artist royalties, mechanical royalties, afm fees, sag fees (for choir), transfer costs, mastering costs, producing costs as well as manufacturing costs a company's out of pocket fees go well into the 10's of thousands on some projects. Other projects, are not as high, but those ones usually are not as much in demand.
We try to give customers a break from time to time (sale prices on older titles or sale prices on new ones -- like now: Buy Dragonslayer and get Eraser for $14.98).
Plus, something to also keep in mind is when we sell these cds to other stores we sell them at a wholesale rate, so our profit diminishes anywhere from $5 to $10. Only Varese has the cajones to sell their wares at full retail price to the wholesale marketplace. LOL
Believe me, if we could sell these cds cheaper and still make a good profit we would.
By all means, if you think you can store, maintain, transfer, master and unlawfully avoid the unions all to make music free, while expecting all this work to be performed for free, all the products to be made free, all of the materials and programs to be mined and written for free, all to make music free, show us this remarkable Utopian path and these beautiful Angels who will lead us there and run it.
There are nuts out there who thinks all kinds of things should be free, like food, since we have to eat. But I don't think I'll live to see a day where somebody like you works for free part-time or full-time, from the farm to the grocery store and every other place around and inbetween, do all this so food is free.

A person with a username like that and who has signed up only today... Might be something fishy here. Perhaps someone taking advantage of the Thanksgiving break the moderators may be having. When I first read that post I decided it wasn't worth my time to answer him/her, I just clicked a certain button in the upper right-hand corner. My feeling is, this is nothing but a troll looking for a fight. I suggest we let it be.
