But is it the real cover, or something a fan made?

The cover was posted on /Film yesterday and taken from Album Art Exchange via comicbookmovie.com.

Of course that doesn't necessarily mean it's official...

I've been waiting for the Amazon preorder allowance to come out - thanks for the FYI. I just recently picked up Dark Knight, and haven't listened to it yet, but LOVE Batman Begins. Very excited to hear what Zimmer does for Rises - I have no doubt it will be excellent!

I am not a Zimmer fan (hey, only his early ones - and his romantic comedy scores, sappy as I am) - but the Batman scores I do like.

And from what one can hear in the TDKR-trailers I must admit that the chanting is truly scary for me. The whole score will probably appeal to me as well.

I'd bet the artwork is legit. There's a shot of someone drawing that chalk bat symbol in the most recent trailer (but not a clear enough shot for that cover art at that resolution).

It's certainly in line with all the dreary cover art from major releases these days - for instance, my whole first few pages of Amazon recommendations...

When did movie studios become so averse to bright or vibrant colors? Even the cartoons and superheroes are muted!

I agree, the cover art should be littered with rainbows, and Batman should be smiling. Also, the font should be Comic Sans and the buildings behind Batman should be a bouncy castle.

I like the cover art for the Dark Knight and it seems appropriate for the movie, but Mstrox has a point here. I don't see reason why films like The Avengers, Amazing Spider Man and even the new Pixar feature all have these ugly/uninteresting "grey/blue" look.

In fact that's the look of most of the adventure/sci-fi/suspense/horror/fantasy films these days (the more logical reason seems to be to better merge all the CGI effects within the movies). But I also miss the days when movies had real colors, even in the horror/fantasy genre (like Superman, The Shining, Jaws, Back to the Future and even Jurassic Park...). Color can be powerfull in horror/fantasy like Dario Argento's colorfull Suspiria and Inferno demonstrates (not so great screenplays, but gorgeous looks).

It's not just the marketing, it's the color-grading of many, many movies these days. Here's a nice write-up with a lot of pictures of the silliness

I despise the Teal & Orange plague. mad I too yearn for the days when films actually had some primary colors.

I can confirm that this is in fact the real, final cover of the OST CD.

Interesting that the OST CD is shorter than both previous OSTS (which were 60 minutes and 73 minutes respectively). I wonder if there was also less music written for the film overall (even though the film is the longest of the 3), or if Mr. Zimmer really just felt that these 51 minutes were the only pieces he wanted out there.

Or they could just be saving more music for the eventual 2 disc "deluxe edition"

I like the the 45-50 minute range. Adding the "Don't Think About Elephants" track to Inception is really all they needed for that album.

I would have liked the music from the rotating hallway sequence as well, but apart from that the album + bonus tracks was sufficient.

Inception was a 2 hour, 28 minute movie though - The Dark Knight Rises is 2 hours, 45 minutes. Which probably means more score was written and recorded. Which means there is more of a chance of everyone's favorite moments no being included on the 51 minute OST. Which, of course means there could be more people more likely to buy the eventual 2CD expanded edition smile

Why can't some director just be bold and demand an Intermission for their film if it runs over 2:20?

What director in their right mind would demand the reduction in box office takings that would result from fewer screenings per day?
