In the LLL version, enlarging the Scott image and shoving it right behind her head makes it look as if he's spotted an insect crawling through her hair and is about to smack it with a mallet. The original illustration was better as it was.
I recently purchased an original UK quad poster from the film's theatrical release. Jane Eyre is one of my favorite Williams-scores and I'm having the poster custom framed for my home office. I've never owned any of the previous CDs, but I have the LP. Really looking forward to receiving La-La Land's reissue.
Jane Eyre is without any doubt one of Williams' best scores. As far as I know it is in his personal top ten and IMHO one of the most beautiful scores ever written. A MASTERPIECE
I'd never heard Jane Eyre before. Holy crap. This is a stunning score. As much as I'm trying only to buy scores that I'm familiar with (to avoid being a bottle cap collector) this is one that's really, really tempting me. I think I might have to!
You'll love Jane Eyre, Josh. It is one of the most melodic and beautiful scores ever composed for films.
"Jane Eyre" and "The Reivers" are my two favorite Williams scores followed by "The Cowboys." However calling ...Eyre" one of the most beautiful ever composed for film is a bit of an overstatement.
I thought the samples for Lennertz's StarHawk sounded great. Give this guy an epic Hollywood movie. Some of his choices in instruments reminded me a bit of Newman's Serenity.
StarHawk is great. And the Newman SERENITY comparison is completely appropriate.
Now to find C-Lennertz a big epic Hollywood blockbuster.
Received JANE EYRE - First the art design is just gorgeous, beautiful layout and organization with a surprising about of photos, all with a very nice antiqued look. Second, the liner notes are very good and answer many long-standing questions I've had about the album. The original notes are included just as they were on the earlier Silva releases and this is a big plus as they're some of the best from the lp era of soundtracks... just compare the notes from the lp of NOT WITH MY WIFE, YOU DON'T for example. Lastly, the remastering has brought us much more transparency and detail in the strings and winds than I've ever heard before and real low-end power for the first time. The slight distortion that appeared in certain passages (notably "Thwarted Wedding" in earlier lp issues and in the first cd issue) is entirely gone here. A stunning release of one of Williams' best efforts.
Well, I dug the old Silva release of JANE EYRE out to see if I could live with or if I need an upgrade. Well, I will be sticking with the Silva release. Not enough of an interesting score to double-dip and I am a Williams fan.
