EXCELLENT. I was thiiissssss close to buying a Varese on ebay three weeks ago that would have set me back three times the cost of the La La Land version. I managed to source the Power Station song a few years back and that's on my iPod, but will be so glad to get the score now - and having the song on the CD as well makes this release pretty perfect to me. Can't wait to order!

I'd like to know what you all find attractive about this score. As much as I like Horner, I could never grasp what he's going for here. The music plays over the movie, not with it, and sounds like a bunch of sound effects with drum loops and avant garde Jazz fusion. The sum of it's parts has always equaled "noise" to me. I think he's done better action scores guys. Theres this little motif that pops up on tin drums that was also in Clear And Present Danger. I recommend that over this. That same motif is in pretty much all of his "urban" scores (and the Jack Ryan films). It definitely feels like it is, that's for sure!

Wonderful news. More 80's Horner is always appreciated. Thanks LLL!

Yes, Commando is more 'heartless' than 48 hrs (to which this score is a cousin) but in return it features more action and I dig the jazzy/funky synth drumloops, steel drums, catchy flutes and sax licks and sweet 80's synthesizer bass patches. It's a style you have to like and I can see this can be repetitive for those who love his orchestral works better. It's one of the most exciting, energetic, riveting action scores of all time. The sheer magnitude of it is staggering, and the orchestration/synth choices are so intricate and complex. I think it's an amazing scoring achievement in all regards.

I was looking for this title and was in talks for a relatively decent-priced copy only a few weeks ago. I came close to spending some money on it, but decided that I had other financial considerations on the horizon. I was right and rewarded for my patience with additional music!

YOR doesn't consider Jimmy Horner's COMMANDO to be good music, but nevertheless he likes it a lot! It is noisy, shallow and repetitive (when compared with Goldsmith's RAMBO scores), but still I love to hear it all! How come this kind of thing happen to us? Is it because we saw the movie when kids and stay connected to its music? We movie score fans are weird, YOR included, yes?
