It's too bad a remastered original album wasn't included.
Well they (& Varese) do release UMG albums. I'm thinking maybe it would have put the price too high (another $10 maybe a bit more), & a lot of Goldsmith fans would already have it.
ordered for sure. i know this has been answered somewhere out there but did i hear that the varese masada was a rerecording? does that mean there is a place in my collection for both versions or is that inaccurate?
An epic release and another LP relegated to the archives!
The LP recording is (as Doug Fake says in his product description) superb. I'd say it's a great complement to the new release. Indeed, as the album is not included in the new release (as Intrada has done with some other recent sets), my CD of the album recording is going to be more valued than ever. Sound and performance are excellent.

Yes a re-recording (look at Intrata's announcement site). Having both is up to you, but IMO, there is "room" for both.
Be sure to hang on the the old Varese cd, as it's the album rerecording. My cd "Tower of Goldsmith" branched into a second tower over a year ago. I have everything....

I wouldn't be surprised if the original album is still owned by Varese and therefore unavailable to Intrada. A shame because a remastered edition of that very unique recording would have sat nicely as a third disc. Still, we still have the old CD to fall back on!
But it's a miracle the original tracks are finally available - legally! - and sounding so amazing!
Ordered immediately! Another LP to CDR conversion can be tossed.
Love that new cover art too. I think the original LP cover had some the worst art ever for a major soundtrack release...a boring, muddy, grainy aerial photo of the mountain top and nothing on the back but printed credits and track titles...no photos, nothing.

Agreed. Hardly qualifies as cover "art" at all. I think it was actually a blown up section of a frame from the title sequence of the show.
