I was going to mention how much I liked the FSM release of the LP but now that Paramount has been cracked hopefully we could get a more complete (and somewhat better-sounding) presentation of this mighty but haunting score.
That said, the "Vertigo" poster blew me away. How awesome would it be to have the complete score from King Kong with this cover:

When Mike's Murder came out I emailed Luc Van De Ven and said, "You should have mailed me!" He said, "We tried but we'd lost your email address!" (It *had* been about ten years since I'd last written for him.)
LOL!!!
This is a great CD though, isn't it. I remember when I very first heard the LP. Strangely, I was actually a little bit disappointed. I didn't get it on that first listen. But as I listened again and the themes started to unfold like a flower, I *really* started to get it. Then seeing the film totally cemented it.

I have the original LP from years ago, complete with the John Berkey poster print of Kong bursting through the barrier gates.
If you noticed on ALL the production paintings, Kong's head was IDENTICAL with the same expression, same jaw open, only flipped in some instances. The artists must have been pushed for time.

Who knows, there is always a time element involved with any commercial art. There is also a sense of the aesthetic.
Look at that Jet in Kong's hand, I would put money on it that the artist got his inspiration from an Angel Interceptor from CAPTAIN SCARLET, many artists use props and he may well have used the old Airfix kit here and tweaked it a bit, there is no existing/existed jet fighters that ever looked like that one in Kong's hand.
Funny enough, they didn't exist in the film either

This repetition of heads is not an artist's shortcut (most illustrators would dig the challenge) but more likely a clumsy attempt at "branding" the new Kong by using the same likeness. It's a way to keep the character "on model" for maximum recognition by the public. And good ol' Dino had a lot at stake with his "Konk" (as he so charmingly called Kong...)
