I have the same feeling, this is an x-mas score and it's still a bit too hot outside smile

No, it's great music, and great music can be listened to any time.

In fact I'm listening to a 'holiday' album right now...

I fully agree that this is one of Mr. Williams' best scores, thanks Driving. I find the Mom Returns/Finale' especially moving and the visual of Mr. Marley reuniting with his estranged son and family tied to the rising strains of "Somewhere In My Memory" still chokes me up, whether watching the movie or listening to the OST. Darn, now I've gotta go take my lunch break before I start blubbering! Thanks, Driving; "Ya filthy animal"!

I tell ya, man -- producing Holiday themed soundtrack albums in August can be a chore.

Do as you please, but I personally enjoy listening to seasonal music when it actually fits. There is enough music in my collection that I listen to all year round, but such items as HOME ALONE or classical music that is attached to certain dates in the church year simply become more meaningful to me when I play them at the appropriate time. And it gives me something to look forward to.

Please, please, please! I don't have many Grails (sure, there's unreleased scores I would like to have, but not a lot I bestow that term upon), but Scrooged is one of them. smile

I recently rewatched the film after many years and the score is simply amazing. I love that they mixed classic Christmas songs in the film as well. However, I noticed two songs/tracks that I don't believe have been previously released and I couldn't find any information about them.

The first song begins with a vocal "Yeow" and can be heard when Kevin is running around the house yelling "I'm Free!" It isn't listed in the film's credits and isn't on the original or LLL soundtrack. I am assuming Williams didn't create this music. Does anyone know the name of the song and if it is available?

The second song is "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" by Mel Torme. The version in the film is different from the version presented on the original album. Specifically, the music is different and Torme's vocals appear to be different than what is heard on t he album version. In the film's end credits, it says the song was produced by John Williams and courtesy of Concord Records. Does anyone have the story regarding this different version?

Also, there is a very short cue that plays before the dialogue starts in the ganster movie Kevin watches. Was this music done by Williams or stock music?

The first one is simply called "Rock and Roll Riff" and was supplied by John D. Lyon (Southside Johnny Lyon). The film version of "Have Yourself..." was arranged by Torme and owned by EMI but he agreed to record a Williams arrangement for the album. The little piece for the movie Kevin watches is, according to the cue sheet, called "Trade Center" and credited to Tom Elliot.

Thanks for the information, Mike. Do you know if "Rock and Roll Riff" and "Have Yourself a Merry Christmas" are available for purchase? The film version of "Have Yourself..." is short, but quite beautiful and I actually prefer that to the original. Did Torme re-record his vocals for that version?

The Tormé vocal track is different. Nothing turned up on it (or the other two pieces) when searching for material. I even contacted Southside Johnny for the little riff thing. So none of these pieces are available for purchase due to the fact that no one seems to have them!

They have to exist in some form because those tracks are isolated (with the exception of "Have Yourself a Merry Christmas" which contain echoes) in the front and rear channels on the Blu-ray and DVD. If I recall correctly, the 2006 DVD got a new 5.1 mix, which is the same mix on the Blu-ray.

I enter Winter season kicking and screaming, so I usually avoid listening to anything that even slightly reminds me of the cold months. Once in a while, a "Christmas" track will pop up in my playlist when I am playing it on random, but I will rarely put on a "Christmas" CD until after Thanksgiving.

It's weird though, I have no problem playing scores like Lethal Weapon or Die Hard though. Maybe I will get over my hang up eventually.

Plenty of time to listen to Christmas scores/music come December. As for 'Somewhere In My Memory' I also harboured thoughts it would become a modern 'standard', but few people I ever ask are familiar with it. I like it though.

God, no! Not for me anyway, I have to agree with Gunnar's post a bit further up.

Same here. I try to avoid listening to Christmas scores outside the month of December (and usually a week or two into December at that). HOME ALONE falls into that category.
