Excuse my ignorance. I've never seen an episode of ST:TNG (or any episode of Star trek TV series). Is this so important music that warrants this extensive and expensive release?
There is nothing any of us who do know and love this music can say to convince that it is very worthwhile. If you have no knowledge of Trek in the slightest and no connection to the series or the music of Ron Jones, then this would be a risky purchase for you. There are copious sound clips available and you can check the TV series as well and then decide. I can tell you that indeed it does warrant this type of attention for many reasons, but this could be a biased, though educated, opinion.
It's brilliant that the official announcement was kind of low key (as far as I know) so there was no scrambling free-for-all for the autographs. Makes a nice change! :-)

True. I had no idea today would be the day. Checking this board everyday has it's advantages! Now bring on the X-Files box and for goodness sake, would someone please release a complete soundtrack box set of Twin Peaks??
Lukas, Great job on this release. Look forward to hearing this. FSM is rapidly become the label for Star Trek music. Any plans for similar boxsets? Voyager, DS9 or Enterprise?

Yes, and this also means that people have NO WAY of knowing and making arrangements.
This is 'brilliant'?
I mean, hell, I'm posting this two hours after the announcement, and they are almost gone (though I don't see where the number left is listed...)?

I believe this question was addressed in an earlier thread and Lukas noted that the Ron Jones set specifically was his sole focus, a labor of love to produce this set, but it was not the start of forthcoming set for other Trek series.
Ordered... Thank you Lukas and all the other poeple who were involved in this project. This is a dream come true. I've never thought this would happen.
Ok, I see now, at 1:39 PM (basically exactly two hours later) there's 12 left. Probably will be gone within 20 minutes if not less. Again, I don't see how this is some sort of 'reward' outside of people who happen to refresh the page every half hour...and never sleep.
