YES!!!! Finally, the long awaited reissue and expansion that I knew would happen has happened. Ha! Great thing I held out on those expensive prices out there for the Japanese CD which I owned years ago. Definitely worth the wait.

Now, if only Henry Mancini's 10 will be the next to follow....

Super cool! I've been frustrated for years after giving up my old LP of TOOTSIE -- and hearing GRUSIN's music from TOOTSIE every morning on the nationally syndicated radio morning show - FIRST LIGHT. Now - it shall be mine. Again!
ORDERING!

You will replace it (TOOTSIE)?
I will keep it, cause I double-dip for OUTLAND and it's too much money already.
And the new bits are just alternates or remixing or extracts of the same jazzy cues from the LP, for what I hear.
Nothing too special.

For me it's worth it for the improved art, remastering, liner notes and those extra variations and bits.
Plus another FSM disc is always welcome on my shelf.

Though, for me, POLTERGEIST, OUTLAND and STAR TREK III are far more important as those 3 were part of my collection long before I got that Japanese pressing of TOOTSIE. smile

HOLY CRAP. I was away in Chicago this week and I'm catching up on some new CD's, Outland and even more impressive, least for me, Tootsie. I'm so excited, hip hip hooray.

I have the expensive Japan disc, but this is awesome!!!

Thanks FSM

Outland I can do very well without but I am going to have to have this one. Early 80s Grusin: I'm there. Several skipable tracks but there's enough to justify a sale. Goes nicely with "Author author" (an excellent CD).

Now if I can get the music from the boy racing across the pond in the boat scene from "On golden pond", and I have to get a CD with "Mountain dance", and I 'm getting close to having my desires fulfilled for Grusin's work.......well there's also Catavento.

I was so stoked about Outland that I ordered it and then noticed Tootsie. Now I have two separate orders. It's gonna be a great summer!

You should have ordered both the second time and canceled the first order. I hardly ever order one CD at a time. More money spent on shipping means less money for CDs. Some people must like overpaying. And it's not as if the extra money could be considered a "gift" to SAE to support their fine efforts... that money's going to the USPS. I don't get it. If you've got too much money that you've absolutely GOT to waste some of it... I volunteer to take some of that superfluous cash off your hands. smile

Hey man, I didn't do it on purpose.

If I need to waste money, I'll just buy some more weed.

I'll second that! "10" is a favorite Mancini of mine...the way everything is getting the deluxe treatment these days I can't see this NOT getting a release in the future smile

I've posted this before (not sure in what thread) but it's a great Tootsie anecdote (no doubt included in the FSM liner notes) wink

It's not in the notes, but the story is hilarious.

This is funny. But in a good way. I remember when people from the forum were going ga-ga over guessing the Intrada release a month ago or something (it turned out to be a Rocky score) , I threw in Tootsie. My prayers were answered. Now, can someone PLEASE release The Goodbye Girl?

Has anyone received their TOOTSIE CD yet from SAE?

I'm just hoping to God, if there is a God, that I get mine this week. I most likely won't, but I need it, really by Saturday.

Fingers crossed, maybe EDO from SAE will read this and secretly bump my order up!!!!

... and great news for those who did track down the Japanese CD. wink
If Thor doesn't have this yet, would he want my soon-to-be replaced CD? big grin

I actually did track down the Japanese CD two years ago because I love GrusinĀ“s scores and this one in particular and my LP was worn out.

But after getting the FSM CD today I guess I will never listen to the Japanese CD anymore - FSM really cleaned up the sound in an AMAZING way!!! The detail and clarity is simply breathtaking. In comparison, the Japanese CD sounds like something you would hear coming from a car radio.

So, anybody interested in Grusin and TOOTSIE - do yourself a favor: buy the FSM. The additional music is also very interesting and adds flavor to this wonderful score.

Can't wait for mine to arrive. Glad to see the enthusiasm for this score. I had the LP when I was a kid and played it often, but I didn't have the Japanese CD. I'm not a huge Grusin fan, but this is one of his finest achievements right up there with On Golden Pond, Murder by Death and a small number of others.

Obscure Tootsie quote #1: "Does Jeff know?"

Tootsie has great music by Dave Grusin.

I also like his composition Mountain Dance from film Falling in Love (De Niro, Streep)
