Let's not forget his "quintet", available on the the Canadian Brass CD, Magic Horn.

I'll have to find this! (I had a hell of a time finding that Goldenthal Brass quintet in 2005)

I'm very late to this party, but I just discovered Kamen's saxophone concerto and I am absolutely bowled over by it! I'm not even a particular fan of the solo instrument, but it is such a beautiful piece that it is impossible not to stand up and cheer after that joyous third movement. The original performance with David Sanborn sets the benchmark, but a more recent recording with the great Amy Dickson has much better sound. Both are highly recommended to anyone who adores Kamen's film scores.

That was so great to watch. Thanks for sharing Justin. Always loved this album. Cool to see a quick shot of Clapton hanging in the studio watching smoking a cigarette. These guys created magic together.

And he was working on a new concert work just before he died.

from Director Amin Matalaqa - I'm sure he posts here - or at least he used to:

"So in 2003 I finally decided to leave my business career behind and pursue my childhood dream of making movies. I moved to Los Angeles, and Michael gave me his full support. He even offered to put me up with one of his cousins. We had a wonderful long conversation just two months before he passed. He was writing an Ode to peace, which he wanted to have performed by Palestinian and Israeli children together. I was helping him find some Arabic poems for that, and then we got the news. I was devastated when Michael passed away. Too soon, too sudden. It didn’t make any sense."

Here's that exhilarating third movement of the Sax Concerto as performed by Amy Dickson:
