Between 1961 and 1968, John Dankworth scored a number of episodes of a UK TV documentary series about wild life called 'Survival'. This was produced by Anglian TV a small ITV franchise holder at the time.
I remember that this series contained some wonderful music. One episode about winter included a Cleo Laine vocal.
Acording to IMDB the episodes he scored are:
Survival (TV series documentary)
– The Loneliest Place in the World (1968)
– The Eighth Wonder of the World (1963)
– Last Stronghold (1963)
– The One That Came Back (1961)
– Wild Life in London (1961)
As far as I'm aware none of this music has ever been commercially released. Apparently, Frank Cordell also scored some episodes.
If the tapes survive then I suspect a wonderful album could be produced.
'Survival' ran for 30 years. Here's the opening titles from a 1986 episode. I'm not sure who composed the music
