Just been giving this a few spins over the last couple of days, what an absolutely wonderful score, all 30 minutes of it! Reading through this thread, goodness knows why some people can't just appreciate the music for what it is, rather than all the "negative" comparisons (although surely comparing to Williams or Broughton should be a good thing, but you know what FSMers can be like). Anyway, any chance of an expansion from Intrada? There's actually a few McNeely's only represented on 30-minute CDs that I'd like expanded, but as this is a Disney movie maybe we're not dependent on Varese to expand them. I agree. This is infectiously fun stuff, quotes notwithstanding. One of my mentors at my alma mater was Charlie Haid, who directed this film (and a few others McNeely scored, like SALLY HEMMINGS and BUFFALO SOLDIERS) and he regarded the score the only good thing about the project! The 30 minute album runtime is perfect for me, one of the few Varese shorties that actually feels satisfying, because it's nothing but thematic highlights end-to-end with nary a dull track!

One of my favorites, too. I'm up for an expansion.

I love this score and just revisited it a few days ago. McNeely is one of my favorite composers and he rarely disappoints even today. I can't say that about most other composers I've admired over the decades. I don't get all the hate. Maybe I'm not familiar with the scores he supposedly lifts from. The 30 minute run time is perfect, but I be game for an expansion. I wouldn't say "supposedly" when it's painfully obvious the scores he had to (?) stick to from the temp. Regardless, I still like "Devil's Slide." There are some unreleased cues that I was excited about that turned out to be straight rips from Broughton when I watched the movie again.

All the people still with us who are championing Iron Will despite its adherence to the temp track, do you all know Terminal Velocity? That's the real winner in McNeely's action filmography. Thrilling stuff, itself used in the temp for movies like Eraser.

All the people still with us who are championing Iron Will despite its adherence to the temp track Maybe that familiarity is why people like it... The recording is strong, but while I'm listening to it, I feel like I should just be listening to the original cues he copied instead. Again, "Devil's Slide" is still awesome.

The Vertigo influence is more deliberate because of the plot, rather than something like Iron Will, which was just "Copy this as closely as possible or else."
