If I get an Executive Producer credit on your film I'll make a direct cash donation. (JK!)

Seriously, if you set up a GoFundMe account I'll donate some cash. I don't want anything in return.

If you've seen the extended cuts of the three Lord of the Rings films and watched the end credits I'm sure you saw the thousands and thousands of names in the LOTR fan club. As an incentive for people to contribute to your project perhaps you could list their names at the tail end of the end credits. Something like "Special thanks to.....". Just a thought.

Adam B., thanks so much for your very nice words and offer. I will definitely take people up on this when the time comes!

In all seriousness, if there were angel investors to raise the $50K, that would be ideal.

And I would absolutely put donors names in the end credits!

When you begin some kind of production on it, I can create the IMDb page for you. Even if you want the title a secret, I can still put something like "Untitled Lukas Kandel Science Fiction Short".

And that way Jones can have an extra credit on his IMDb page.

Justin, thanks, but let's not do this just yet! The last thing I need is an imdb link that looks like a dead project if something else ends up filling my time!

Yes, that's why I said when some kind of production actually occurs. If it just languishes there while no funding happens, somebody will come along and just delete the entry.

Lokutus: I am so glad it was YOU who asked...the composer will be my dear friend Ron Jones!

Ron Jones scoring sci-fi for Lukas Kendall? Presumably with an orchestra, even a small one? Okay, a copy of it *needs* to be a perk...

Perhaps an effective incentive could be naming one of your movie characters after a donor. I would love to hear my name spoken on the big screen!

How do people feel about "grab bags" where you would get a bunch of CDs for a donation of however many dollars...but you can't control what's in it? So you might get titles you already have—or would never want.

I'm fine with that being an option for people (as someone else suggested, it would make sense at a lower price for not having the privilege of choice)...that said I myself would probably not partake in that option, and would prefer to pay more money in order to select specific things I still need to fill out my collection.

I will call some of the labels tomorrow and see what we can work out. They have been very supportive of the idea. Mostly it's about logistics at this point...how exactly to handle the administration without driving us all crazy.

I don't think new releases will be available. The labels need those for cash flow! This will be about catalog titles.

Thanks to everybody who posted their thoughts!

It makes perfect sense to me that new releases would be excluded...this can be a great chance for people to fill holes in their collections in an affordable way, while supporting you at the same time.

I would most certainly contribute to our very own Dr. Klahn's creation of a fighting force of extraordinary magnitude!
Couldn't help it, flashback to 78 & 94, eh LK?

Sounds exciting, best of luck, I'm in,

So that's what you have been up to, Lukas!

That's wonderful and I'll be one of your champions and YES! Bring in Ron Jones! One of the most underrated talents that needs to blast on the big screen.

Also a good idea would be to donate used cds and rare cds to SAE and that way if any sale happens the proceeds can be used to fund the campaign.

Lets make it so!

8 CDs for $100 is great idea, but I have another one! smile

We all know that mostly all labels have some emergency copies for case of lost/defective CD.

So maybe you could do specific perk for not 8 "in-stock" titles, but 5-6 really RARE CDs from such emergency catalogs?

For example, when Intrada did their 30th anniversary event, they gave some CDs for their guests. And when I saw pictures from that event, I found that some titles from that selection was from oop category... So this means that Intrada still have some (maybe 1-2) copies of titles, which technically were gone.
Or did you remember how LLL suddenly found some copies of Innerspace (good God, I'm still happy, that I grabed it!!!) or some other oop titles?

Or maybe some labels still have promo copies, with hole on bar-code (I know that at least LLL did some promo-copies)? But who cares about this, if you could get oop album for normal price, not $100 just for one CD (sometime even unsealed!)?!

ps I hope that you will give us right to choice, which title we will get. At least - another idea - 5-6, which you can choice, or 8 but without knowing, what's you'll get smile

Great idea Lukas. I think a lot of folk on here would be happy to just help even without perks. Maybe a donation link or something like that, thats optional to folk.

People like having their names in the endtitles. Buy 20 cd's , get a mention there, something like that

Lukas

Hi Lukas,

I downloaded and read the script. I really enjoyed it, it was engaging and reminded me a lot of Ghost in the Shell and memory hacking - especially the 2nd and third Ghost in the Shell films. I really enjoyed the part about unscrewing the port hole to get a live visual. I also loved the scene where the main character confirms something was written in their own handwriting, by re-writing that text themselves. Also how you called the AL-C - "Alice" - nice touch.

A 'Pulsating ELECTRONIC SCORE" by Ron Jones sounds great, and as Yavar suggested a good reward option. Offering at one level a digital download, and another level a physical CD+digital with the full score and bonus sound sketches for example would be pretty cool too.
