I downloaded this on Deezer last night and have been listening today. I must say, I think this could do with a serious whittle (preferably to 30-40mins tops). There are some nice bits here and there between all the fat. Any suggestions? The Great Mound Battle and Glory to Bast are definitely keepers (so far, still working my way through the lengthy album).

My problem is the similarity between one of the main themes here and one of the main themes to The Rendezvous by Austin Wintory. It was very distracting for me during the film. Plus I don't really care for African choral pieces for listening to outside of the film. Also certain drum choices sounded a little strange given the higher pitch they made.

Not much talking here..about a film that just beat Star Wars: The Last Jedi at the Box Office Opening Weekend....and scored 97% at Rotten Tomatoes.

One would think..here..massive amounts of writings...not even close of a 100...flame off!

There was a much longer thread that our resident, um, nevermind, I'll keep it polite-- it became a dumpster fire.

When I bring up Rotten Tomatoes ratings, it doesn't count.

Townerbarry is right though. This is a score that deserves our attention -- and our words.

I've got nothing but praise. The album is the most exhilarating I've heard since maybe Creed (same composer) or Thor Ragnarok (same studio). Not only has Göranson provided a fantastic piece of music (the string arrangements are partially nice, next to to the excellent use of African drums) but a fantastic score as well.

It's well composed. It has bold musical choices, like the bouncy stereo-spreaded vocals during the casino-fight. It has bold spotting choises as well, as in bringing up front (!) an almost pungent arrangement of a motive in *midst of a conversation* on the ancestral plane :-o. What a fantastic moment that was!

Next to all that it has a fresh and modern vibe and a unique sound. Almost a third of the excellence of this film might be from the score.

Edit: as for it being to long? I wonder what would have happend on this board if a Varèse-in-the-80ies-like 40-minute album had appeared...

Seeing the film tonight, so will comment after that.
Maybe the lack of chat is down to people not having seen or heard it yet (plus the longer chat of the previous lock-down thread in the void).

Saw it last night. Liked it. Score works much better after seeing the film. Good standout moments. I did think the film relied too heavily on the vibranium technology to get characters out of tough spots. Thought it made for some lazy writing. Great villain though.

I also saw this last night, and the score was really great, I even teared up at a few points.

Would buy a CD in a heartbeat. Really hope this one does get the proper CD release it deserves.

It's fantastic. I really enjoyed it during the movie and it stands alone as a good listen. Love the variety, the different themes, mix of action music and quieter moments. Would also buy on CD.

I loved the film. It deserves all the hoopla. The score is way above average for a Marvel film, IMO only Silvestri's AVENGERS comes close.
I'm breaking down and buying the FLAC download, Only the second time I've given in and bought a download (the other was Sean Callery's JESSICA JONES). As long as I can get a lossless version, I guess I'll have to grumpily accept that more and more scores will get only digital and vinyl releases (I still don't understand the vinyl obsession...it is senseless).
I just burn a CD and print a cover on glossy paper and I have that physical reminder someone else mentioned.

So Intrada or La La Land haven't spoken yet? Surely one of them would get us a physical release...wouldn't they?
I'm getting to close to getting the download on 7 digital as a last resort. Though I'm still waiting to see if it'll show up on HD tracks or Pro Studio Masters because they'd offer aiff or wav (I'm very picky about my downloads).
...unless there is a late CD release coming....

I guess this would fall into Intrada territory. Is the release the full score? Just wondering how a CD release would work. Cut down some of the music to fit one CD or spread it over two?

I'm sure Intrada or LaLa Land would be all over producing a CD release, given the chance.
But just like last time, when Roger at Intrada said he tried to get Marvel/Disney to let them produce a score CD for Tyler Bates' wonderful GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 2, the studios just don't seem interested in it.
Maybe it'll take a few years and they (the studio) will let them release it as a 'collectors piece', much like the scores of olde we get now (wishful thinking).
I suppose they have caved in before (UP, TOY STORY 3, A CHRISTMAS CAROL), so it's not completely out of the question (more wishful thinking).
