Actually that was bad news, now everyone knows about Rains, probably be gone 'fore I can grab it.

Still, I might get lucky. Just a few more days...

If you're looking for any unmentioned recommendations, another Friedhofer is CASANOVA
http://www.kritzerland.com/casanova.htm

PRESSURE POINT has a nice vintage Twilight Zone vibe
http://www.kritzerland.com/pressure.htm

Lavagnino's LEGEND OF THE LOST(1957) has a golden/silver age vibe. Wish the lost track was lossless.
http://www.kritzerland.com/legend.htm

Another golden/silver age score and inspiration for Indiana Jones (the character) can be found on Secret of the Incas
http://www.kritzerland.com/horizons_incas.htm

OVERLORD is somewhat addictive
http://www.kritzerland.com/oLord.htm

More modern love score in The Berlin Affair by Pino Donaggio
http://www.kritzerland.com/berlin.htm

Some more modern action thriller music worth getting
http://www.kritzerland.com/driver.htm

WA, you seriously need Rains -- bummed to hear Bruce is out as I didn't even remember the title selling out, but I have a lead on a copy. Please contact me by email at moradi (dot) yavar (at) gmail (dot) com.

Merry Christmas all!

Yavar

P.S. I would not recommend Adventures of Casanova as a first Friedhofer. It's more him doing Korngold (and not as good as Korngold doing Korngold, of course) rather than his own developed compositional voice. There are a dozen Friedhofer scores I'd recommend exploring first, though it's certainly not bad music by any means.

I have that one on my wish list. I seem to remember a really cool company doing IAWL next Spring? Not sure.

I wonder why no more Billy Goldenberg? Sales too low on BUSTING? No affordable 1970s scores to be licensed?

Yes, just about the worst-selling soundtrack we've ever done.

WHEW! Peter is really nice over there....I'd better write him.

That's too bad. I bought it, but cant say it was on my Billy G wishlist. Might have better luck with other titles. DUEL at Intrada is almost sold out.

I just saw they have a release of Jane Eyre (Herrmann). I had no idea this recording existed (I have the Naxos). Definitely interested.

They actually re-released every single Herrmann at Fox score which Varese did in their big $200 box set (similar to the FSM Rozsa at MGM Treasury), except for the half which Varese controlled/controls in perpetuity. They even expanded on the single Herrmann Fox score which Varese did not have complete on the box set (Hangover Square).

I and many other people missed out on that great release from Varese so it was kind of a godsend. I was afraid you might not know about it yourself. This is why you must prioritize the Rozsa Treasury -- prices on it may end up like this!

GAD, that's insane! I do so want the Treasury but it has just been out of my reach. I keep getting and being seriously inspired by all that I have. Not to mention, the Kritzerland deal is still going on wink

A few firm favourites that come to mind:

One-Eyed Jacks - Hugo Friedhofer
Rains Of Ranchipur - Hugo Friedhofer
Rio Conchos - Jerry Goldsmith
Cross Of Iron - Ernest Gold
Tom Jones - John Addison

I'm sure there's a few more that I can't think of right now, but that lot still gets listened to a lot.

2.5 years ago, I started this thread on Top 10 Kritzerland albums.

Oh dear, that really would have hastened things wouldn't it? But then I would have missed the pleasure of everyone's kind and helpful company smile

Since WagnerAlmighty designates herself as a composer, then I would think a composer who wrote both music for cinema as well as a large oeuvre of 'absolute' music should be considered.

I suggest Toru Takemitsu. Plenty of Takemitsu's concert works are available on albums via classical music labels, so Kritzerland's Rising Sun should be a consideration for the OP.

Other Kritzerland titles deserving consideration are The Trial & anything by Paul Glass, amongst other fine titles already mentioned within.
