Mine arrived ok today. There was a couple of splatters of a substance similar in color to the insides sleeves on a couple discs. I used my tongue to remove it. Afraid to try anything else! The plastic wrap envelope cost nowhere near ten bucks. Storing them in plastic CD cases. I guess I was lucky. Listened to 1st disc of Shining and Dreamcatcher. Nice.

Hi Shadowman, quick question when you opened your set did you have pieces of foam on every panel on top of each disc? Thanks.

I'm alittle surprised they were so scratched if this is the set-up. Perhaps they're avoiding plastic to go "green," or "brown" as they say here: http://www.groovehouse.com/shop

First, shadowman and MV, I am sorry this happened to you. MV, thankfully LLL uses jewel boxes.

Second, now you see why I refuse to purchase any CD that is not protected in a jewel case. The extra styrofoam they put in to comfort those with concerns means nothing if the CDs are scratched before or as they are put in to the cardboard slots!

Varese is all about package presentation now (geared to the average Joe and not the collector) and not concerned about quality, which it is shame. I wanted these scores and would have paid $20+ more for the set, if they were released in jewel cases, but I am glad I saved my money.

Yes, there were thin foam pieces on all panels. It may be that the discs were scratched at the factory prior to inclusion in the cardboard holder. I have played through The Shining cd's and all play without any issue. Thankfully, the surface scratches did not affect these 3 discs. I'll be playing the rest of the cd's this weekend.

That foam will do NOTHING to prevent scratched discs. You can bet those scratches were there before they came remotely close to that foam.

Here's how you prevent it: stop with the crappy package designs!

lol, all these micromanaging questions about foam and discs makes me wonder...was the packaging your baby?
Dont feel bad, there have been worse, like the first Wild West West complete dvd set. Now that was a disaster.

Only one disc scuffed up a bit - top row first disc.

One pocket broken.

All the cd's were scratched to varying degrees in both top and bottom slits.

I also received my box today. The package is slightly smashed on the side and the top. When I opened the set, three of the CDs were not in the cardboard sleeve and were loose. CDs are scratched, some scratches look deeper than others although I haven't checked to see if they play properly. For the price point and the overall condition, I am considering sending it back for a refund (and hopefully a stand alone Dreamcatcher in better packaging will be released in the future).

I generally don't complain about packaging. Plastic cases or digipak both work fine for me. However, I don't like cardboard sleeves. My Nightmare on Elm box is full of scratches, but at least there was some thought to protecting the CDs with the plastic sleeve that went inside the cardboard sleeve. This package, on the other hand, has no protection whatsoever. In fact, I don't see how the CDs won't be scratched with this setup.

Jeff, I will do some public relations for Varese and apologize, since no one really has done that here. This should not have happened, but I called it (loose CDs, scratches, smashed boxes, etc). If this happened to me, I would return it for a full refund. Hey Varese, I have a few hours a week to spare, so why don't you run future packaging ideas pass a few people on this board before you proceed with the releases. I will do it for free!!!

Trolling Varese yet again, eh "Kim?" Shocking.

Oh and I doubt Varese would care much what a guy pretending to be an Asian girl has to say about their product.

Yeah, get a life Mr. Erik Donavan

Jim,

Kim...my name is Kim, when will you people lay off! For the millionth time, I am not this Erik!

I will have a problem with any company that releases packaging that does not protect the CDs, end of story!
The other major labels believe in jewel cases, why has Varese taken a few steps backwards?
They need to take a few more steps back and rethink the direction they have been going in for the past few years!

So, the picture that has been up for over a week with my husband is not good enough? If you require anything else, please feel free to ask EVERYONE else to provide proof of who they are on the message board. Peace out!

Yawn. Nope need you holding that sign with your screen name - that's how you prove it! Just change your picture to that and your clear! Later!

Um, a tiny B&W photo of two Asian teens? How exactly does that "prove" who you are? I could find a thousand similar pictures of an Asian couple with a simple Google search. And didn't you say you were a school teacher? Sorry but the girl in the profile looks waaay to young and the way you carry yourself on this board with your constant trolling seems quite unladylike & certainly not character traits of school teacher.

I remember clearly you joined 2 days after Erik Donovan was banned and you were posting the exact same nonsense he used to: attacking Ford Thaxton, making fun of that member "Basil" for liking My Little Pony, your fixation on Robert Folk, etc. Several people picked up on this as well which is why many don't believe who you say you are. All just a coincidence?

Unless you can post a link to a Facebook page, I'm going to continue calling you out everytime you start trolling as well

No, now Jim, love KP! I believe we are done, so all the bullies can leave me alone now. Your next Jim, picture please, or do you not have one without your Mom in the picture with you?

It is funny how I have to prove who I am, which I did, but 98% of you on here do not use real name or pictures. Funny isn't it.

My set was a little dented in a few places as well. I can live with it, but it didn't thrill me.
