I don't think that one mega media company absorbing another is anything to celebrate.

Amen.

The other thing I'm sad about is the end of the Fox film legacy... and along with it, the musical history that's on that lot. I assume that Disney wouldn't disassemble the lot for spare parts or anything, but would they keep the scoring stage? Would they keep the Newman family name on it? Would the Alfred Newman Fox Fanfare be heard in front of any pictures anymore? I'm guessing not.

GOOD. I'm glad the current iteration of Disney isn't getting their hands on something else.

One only has to look at Disney's media blackout of the Los Angeles Times (they objected to the Times' reporting on the company's use of political leverage to squeeze Anaheim – the home of Disneyland – for subsidies and tax breaks) to see how it becomes a problem when any of these companies gets too big.

Stop being so selfish ppl. I want the original Star Wars films too, FF and X-Men movie rights back with Marvel, etc, but not at the cost of one super mega company ruling the world.

The Solium dialectic once again nails the crucial issue at hand!

Bless the other media outlets that have pledged not to review any Disney films or interview any actors until the boycott is lifted!!!!
Power to the people!

I'm just looking forward to seeing the Disney castle logo with "When You Wish Upon a Star" playing before the next Deadpool film.

Most amusing.

However... does the Disney castle appear before all of the Marvel films released by Disney so far? Nope. It does not. So, er, that joke doesn't really work.

Don't you bet on it! Disney will be back with another offer, still, its good-news for now. FOX/HBO is good-tv I dread what Disney would've done with it.

What does HBO have to do with either Fox or Disney?

HBO has been the premium network home of Twentieth Century Fox films for over 30 years, an extension deal was renewed in 2015, cost of 200+ million a year, Disney would of destructed this partnership, HBO/FOX sports, Fox also air news/sporting events live, like boxing, which for me is a must-have, although that deal wasn't in the offer, Thank f£££.

But if Deadpool fell into the hands of Disney, the makers of Deadpool absolutely would open the film with the Disney castle logo (or some variation thereof) in the style of their self-referential, fourth wall breaking humor. Regardless of lack of Disney branding on other Marvel properties.

This might be good for Star wars , the Fantastic four and so on, but it's the end of anything NEW.

Great idea for Disney stock holders, a terrible idea otherwise.
Disney has just gotten too large and successful. They are already an assembly line film studio, this would only make it worse.

I'm tired of all these massive companies merging together, further confusing rights, putting property into hands of some companies that have shown they shouldn't have them, and other things.

The last thing I want to see modern Disney have, is anything else that they don't currently own. And then, to quote Gordon Ramsay, "Seriously, go fuck off for a bit."

I'm with the posters who think Disney is too big and powerful already. The number of franchises Disney controls now is stunning.

And who wants to see every last thing through the same corporate lens, the same set of policies and preferences, the same CEO's agenda? The merger would put too much power in one C-suite.
