Over the span of three Star Wars movies they go from "Return of the Jedi" to "The Last Jedi"? That's a display of really poor corporate Jedi management skills. As a stockholder in the franchise, I am NOT HAPPY.

Not sure how I feel about the title just yet, but it definitely has me intrigued.

One wag did quip 'thank god it's not The First Order Strikes Back' wink

Indeed :-) Well right now there's Luke and Leia. And potentially Rey. Suppose by "last" they mean Luke but... we'll see where they go with it...

The crawler from The Force Awakens already told us who the last Jedi is wink

The title, besides being fantastic IMHO, is interestingly ambiguous..since "Jedi"is ,according to the majority of geekdom both the singular and plural form..it could be about more than just Luke.

Actually, that's canon. In episode one Darth Maul says 'finally we reveal ourselves to the Jedi'. In that sentence 'Jedi' is plural.

Good, Luke has always been my favorite character so hoping he plays a prominent role in this one. One of the few disappointments I had with TFA was his lack of screentime.

Glad to see that EPs are making a comeback! Sometimes an album has too much music, and the EP format offers the perfect musical presentation.

Took me a while over the years, Jim, but love that Carmine Infantino art! I thought the title sounded familiar.

You're near the Infantino era, but the cover is by Walt Simonson, who had a stellar run on the book, too.

(And I always did like that blocky Infantino art, though many did not)

You are right of course - I can see that now that I look closer. But that Imperial Lady is definitely Infantino, or a copy, or at the very least an influence - which is what caught my eye.

I never had any trouble loving Simonson's art. wink

Tom Palmer was Simonson's inker, and while he is a great talent, I feel that his inks often dominate the penciller's work. smile

The Comic Book Database--yes, there thankfully is such a thing--does not credit Infantino with art on 49's cover, but you're right, the Imperial officer chick does resemble an "Infantino Girl."

Yes, "The Last Jedi" was definitely a transitional issue in Marvel's Star Wars run. wink

Hmm, I'll have to look at that more closely, I always loved that inking, may be missing something about what it's doing to Simonson's art. (Reminds me of Terry Austin inking John Byrne, my favorite combo for Byrne, but maybe could make the same argument.)

I love having a parallel conversation on a thread like this, that, um, actually doesn't have anything to do with this thread. Carry on!

The work Palmer did on John Buscema's 1980s Avengers pencils always reminds me of Palmer's contemporaneous inks on Marvel's Star Wars. The former is so firmly ingrained in my memory that I always think "Star Wars" whenever I see it. Of course, everyone here only thinks Star Wars. wink

There's another conversation in this thread? confused I don't know about you, but I'm talking about "Star Wars." Specifically, "The Last Jedi"! smile

Tom Palmer is one of the nicest guys you could hope to meet. Just talk to him about classic Universal movie monsters!

Anyone who had to endure Neal Adams' perpetual lateness has to have a nearly-infinite reserve of patience!

So...anyone else read "The Last Jedi"? It's a moving story, actually. Read on, intellectuals:

In order to fall in line with the titles of the 8 other films in the "official" Star Wars cannon, I'm guessing that Episode IX could be titled the following:
"THE NEW JEDI"
"RISE OF THE JEDI"
"THE CHOSEN ONE"
"A GALAXY IN PERIL"
"THE FINAL HOPE"

Of course if all else fails, depending on the events of "THE LAST JEDI" perhaps it can be titled "REVENGE OF THE JEDI", the original title of Episode VI, re-titled as "RETURN OF THE JEDI".

I'm guessing: Recrudescence of the Force. You heard it here first.

Second guess: Remembrance of the Past: A Proustian regression through all of Luke's CG-filtered memories of his lost sister.

Weak title! should be something like REVENGE OF THE JEDI (but Jedi don't seek revenge!)...POWER OF THE JEDI!

Other titles can include:

"MORE EMO VILLAIN"
"THE ONE THAT LUKE IS IN A BIT"
"THE ONE WHERE LUKE WILL LIKELY DIE"
"THE CGI FORCE LEIA AWAKENS AND LOOKS A LITTLE FUNNY"
