So, they threw something together with a demo cue and what we saw has the potential to not even be the final project? Somebody should be fired and the person over that guy embarrassed.
Promotion is becoming a "24/7" thing just like 24/7 news. It doesn't matter if they have anything substantial or real to say, as long as they continually feed the fanatics with something. And the fanatics eat it up. Lots of blame to go around.
Trailers and teasers have for decades used temp music and imagery made just for the promo. So please explain what in the world you are ranting about, because frankly, I'm completely flummoxed by this attitude.
Morning. Without naming names, there's a contigency of people who are consistantly, predictably and reliably ONLY negative and add zero to the conversation. Actually, it's an addition of less than zero so the posts are literally worse than nothing. I'll tolerate it to a point, but if others get dragged into the mud, I'll consider the originators as Abusive Trolling Hatebaiters and report it. "Go sell crazy somewhere else" Please don't respond to this post. In the spirit of Trek, let's progress in a positive direction and move forward.
Well I'm looking forward to it. Am I allowed to say that? Sorry for being positive!
As far as the design goes, does anyone know the timeline as to Ken Adam's involvement in PLANET OF THE TITANS? I was under the impression that the basic shape of the ship was Adam's work, later refined by McQuarrie. Not important (and nothing to do with music, I know), just curious!
The spacedock built in an asteroid in the teaser is also inspired by McQuarrie artwork, btw.
Moving on... I expect the show is still in the beginnings of preproduction. I wonder if the pilot is even written yet. And it sounds like Fuller would like to see original series actor involvement. Shatner at least.

Dammit man, stop blowing my mind with Ken Adam and Trek. How did I not know this!?
this thing won't even be in production for two more months, and it will not air for at least six. This video (and the earlier teaser) are basically concept pieces that might not resemble what's in the actual show at all. I happen to know that the VFX crew is still not entirely assembled and they are still interviewing people.
I think what you meant to write was "My six-month-old sister and her brain-damaged cat could do better effects than that! I'm going to laugh so hard when this thing fails! Gene Roddenberry is rolling over in his grave!"
Somehow the upper management at CBS did not catch the little problem with their new title when it comes to the Internet and how fans abbreviate titles.
So, we have a thread in General Discussion that isn't discussing the potential composer(s) or the idea of what the music should be, when there already is a thread for that, and there already is more than one thread in Non-Film Score Dicussions to handle what's happening right now in this?

*AutoIncorrect. Buddy, turn that crap off, don't you know it's the machines trying to program US with THEIR language.
Also, I'm not watching a ton of tv right now so I'm not up on who's current, so I wonder if he'd consider Giacchino, if he's even able do it. Or maybe Fuller wants to keep the Universes separate and hire new talent.

Apparently. But since this is a fan message board and just a fun diversion, seems like something we shouldn't stress about too much, right?

Maybe we should start another thread to discuss this issue so that we could keep this one on topic?
Unless and until one sees what ends up on-screen, everyone's opinion means very little.
I was one of those "Tom Cruise as Lestat? Are you kidding me?" crowd, but when I saw the movie, I thought he absolutely nailed that part. Nailed it. So, I was talking out of an organ that was not my mouth every single time I bitched about it.
I learned a lesson from that, which I've never forgotten.
So, until I actually SEE "Star Trek: Discovery", I'm going to be optimistic. Because that's the kind of person I am.

Ignore the people who laid the foundation for decades so a new series could be nervously accepted after two shitty ones and a shitcrap film. Yeah, who do they think they are? It's not like they're the fans. Oh ..... wait.
Oh my goodness that music was terrible.
So you're forming an opinion on a short promo that won't have anything to do with the final product. These are the things that I can tell you for sure... Not a single frame of the show has been shot (they don't start until September). The composer of this cue will NOT be the composer on the final series. The VFX companies aren't even up and running yet... this is a quick mock-up (almost like a pre-vis in many ways). The show is NOT a prequel ala Enterprise.
How about you wait until something from the actual show or better yet... the ACTUAL show itself can be seen before we render verdict?
Fans are the WORST people to tell you how something should be because they can usually only see what they've already been shown. Most lack the creative muscle to think outside the box (even though outside the box and creative is usually what people respond strongest to. See Tom Cruise's Lestat, Heath Ledger's Joker, Ben Affleck's Batman, and every other thing you've probably loved in your life). The only thing fans want is what they've been given over and over again, and then they complain about THAT.

Jeff Bond is right
Ignore. The. Fans
Or how about the production company waits until they have something tangible to show? First we get the unveil of, get this... a Starfleet emblem! Now we get a "fake" teaser? Their desperate attempt at promotion is over the top silly.

Why don't you just pretend you didn't see it? Then you won't have to feel so offended and "outraged" by it.
