You're right. Although looking at it another way, $25K in 1963 (the first full year of Carson's "Tonight Show") would be over $190K in 2014. So in today's dollars, he did indeed earn millions. (For that matter, there's no way the royalty remained unchanged at $200 for thirty years. So I don't think we have enough actual info for an audit here.)

the 'FANFARE" (Where no man has gone before) I've seen solely credit to Courage and yet in other places it's credited to both of them. It could be just a mistake on the part of whoever is making out the cue sheets on any given show, but it's a interesting question. Ford A. Thaxton
In the old days you copyrighted music by printing out the music on a lead sheet. It is possible the official document submited for copyright claim did not include the intro/fanfare. So, there might be a seperate copyright/publishing record for "Fanfare from STAR TREK" ???? bruce
