McFarlane is a film music fan like us (don't forget he gave Ron Jones a job!) McNeely is an incredibly talented composer and IMO in the last few years with his superb work on the Tinkerbell series he is in fact at the height of his creative powers.

This score is going to be AMAZING. Mark my words.

Except he doesn't seem to care much for Danny Elfman:

I hadn't seen that one--REALLY funny, a great in-joke for us score nerds.

Look to the right with the list of videos, and see the one labeled "John Williams" that has the cartoon orchestra -- that's the beginning, where John is conducting the LSO.

It seemed like an affectionate parody to me. They used Elfman's music from Pee-Wee's Big Adventure (pretty sure it was the original rather than a knockoff) when there was a 'Breakfast Machine' parody.

He is also listed as the composer for fantasy THUNDER LORD!
Seems a bit odd, but PLEASE, let it be all true!
Such a talented and nice guy deserves some more interesting assignments!

He's also listed as composer for Pixar's upcoming INSIDE OUT, directed by Pete Docter (MONSTERS INC. and UP). Let's hope it's true!

Interestingly enough, there was talk about John Willams being considered for this film.

Joel REALLY needs a comeback, and *maybe* this is it! This would be the perfect opportunity to release an expanded/complete of one of his great 90s action scores (Avengers, Soldier, Terminal Velocity, Virus). I remember getting into his music around 1998/1999 and hoping he would break out into big-budget films.

Samples! www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KB5NYT8/

By the looks of things they are not going to give my poor wallet a break this year. Oh no, not at all.

With this (McNeely doing old school Western), JNH doing old school JNH in Malificent, Desplat doing old school everyone in Monuments Men and Godzilla, are we turning some kind of crud corner with the Zimmer/Remote Control phone in scores?
Is there hope yet?? wink

I've always said, and I'll say it again...

In order to a pure orchestra film score sounds new again, it has to almost completely die first, which is what has happened lately... maybe these are indeed the firsts seeds of its new renascence

Sounds like this might win the IFABACAB's coveted BEST SCORE SAMPLES OF THE YEAR, WESTERN/COMEDY award.

Very excited to hear this. McNeely rarely disappoints and I knew he would deliver an old fashioned western score and this sounds great! I've got this and Maleficent on order. Looking forward to getting both of these on release day!

Yeah....that guy always delivers!...I don't understand why nobody gives him the big projects he deserves...but I guess the silver and golden age sound is for yesterday men, like myselfsmile
Just listened to the samples of JUDITH ...fantastic as well....

I saw the film the other night and really like the score. It is seems to be an homage to all of the classic western themes (especially Bernstein) and includes two very catchy songs.
