This is a surefire payday gig for Elfman, akin to Brian Tyler's scoring of, well, everything. People will buy this album for the name alone, so Elfman's seeing green all the way with this.

I wish I could shake Morricone's grave and cryptic posts about Elfman and Edgardo Simone. It's really bothering me, thinking about what it could be that so disturbed Henry.

Me too, Shaun. I started this thread a while ago, still none the wiser...

I've always been more curious as to why John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith, James Horner, James Newton Howard and even Elfman himself helped out with orchestrations for John Debney and Joel McNeely!

Elfman doing sex and abusive relationships? I'll listen.

Ha! Seconded.

Dolores Claiborne is among Elman's finest film scores ever.

Nice to see the CD has the two tracks on the song album, so no one has to double-dip.

Amazon are listing the score album as a CD...it's pricey now (pre-order) but it will drop after release date.

What, no 'Final Confrontation'?

Indeed! For all of the 90's scores that are being needlessly expanded, this is one that actually deserves to be heard in full. Fantastic work, from a time when Elfman had fun even in the "in-between" cues.

This might be Elfman's Basic Instinct.

Has he ever scored "sex" before? I imagine he might be quite good at it.

He scores a bit of it in Red Dragon. I am pretty sure the track from the album is "Love on a Couch". Anyway, if you listen to the isolated score/commentary track from the DVD, Elfman talks about the challenges of scoring the intimate scene between Francis Dolarhyde and Reba McClane.

If any score was calling for Giacchino-style pun cue titles, it was this one. I do hope "A Spanking" becomes Elfman's new "Final Confrontation" or "Weepy Donuts" though

Just caved yesterday and bought the digital "Big Eyes" release from iTunes. Hopefully they stick with a CD for this one - as Giacchino's "Jupiter Ascending" shows, it's never too late to change plans to an all-digital release.

12,99 is hardly that expensive.

The idea of Elfman getting to pen his Body Heat or Basic Instinct is certainly intriguing, and pretty much the only thing about this movie that interests me (okay, and Dakota Johnson nudity razz).

Just finished watching the Irish tv show THE FALL, with Jamie Dornan as a sexual serial killer.
He just might make this film passable!
