I've stepped away from this only to come back to seeing the little exchange about the differeing scores lol...
Honestly, I have friends who grew up with the American edit and Tangerine Dream score and to them, THAT epitomizes the film. I don't disagree, there are parts of that score to which I am fond but it is no masterpiece which is an accolade to which I would not hesitate bestow upon Goldsmith's score.
But that having been said, I do think there's more than 4 minutes of missing music.
So far this is what I've figured out:

Here is a list of as much that I know Goldsmith wrote for the film and what I know to be missing. Adding it up we get [9:12] and that's with only having one of each missing mix of "Faerie Dance." If they included an alternate mix (say isolated orchestra) thus putting it on the album three times, then we're looking at [11:03] missing. I've seen expanded releases done for less music than that.
Plus, seeing as several of the cues in the actual prep-up to the battle are taken from other scores or from library music, if that music could be found and included (being library music I imagine that the royalties are either non-existent or little) then we're talking a few more minutes too.
Add to that the 'Darkness Chant' or the 'Sing The Wee' meant for use in the film (if it exists) and you've easily got about 15 minutes more of music...so there is some stuff...

A few random opinions that nobody should really care about:
1) "Legend" is a dreadful film in any version. It's easy to blame non-creative suits for recutting it, but I tried watching the longer version and couldn't make it through very much.
2) The Tangerine Dream score isn't my thing. I don't object to that sort of score for a fantasy film -- honestly, no reason it's any more or less appropriate than an orchestral score, and Goldsmith's has some very prominent synths, too -- but this one sounds tinny and lifeless to me. The dress dance cue is especially weak to me (Goldsmith's seduces, Dream's mocks).
3) I enjoy the Goldsmith score, though it isn't one of my top 25 Goldsmiths. I'd likely buy an expansion -- I'm weak that way -- but I find the Silva edition satisfying.
4) It's easy to mock Universal for allegedly assuming a more contemporary score would somehow bring kids to the theater, but I don't think that's it. They simply saw the film as a disaster, and wanted to change anything they could at that late date. The score was a casualty of this, but the fact that so many here found it "appropriate" was probably a weakness rather than a strength. They wanted to tone down the fantasy, rather than underline it.
5) I don't know why anybody would want the isolated orchestral backing to a song like "My True Love's Eyes." It was composed with voice as an element. I don't need to hear a cue with trumpets removed, or percussion taken out. The singing voice isn't an intrusion into the purer orchestra, it's just one more sound contributing to the whole.

I just said the isolated orchestra would be a nice option and especially since there seems to be some confusion/controversy over the vocals (the original European cut and the Directors Cut have different vocals and it's believed/stated that the Euro cut has Mia Sara singing but that the DC uses a studio singer but there's been no statement confirming this that I've seen). So I kinda mention it too in the sake of being closer to the original but again, only as an option. My assessment of the amount of score missing does not include these. The film also has, depending on the cut, different ways of using the vocals/music layering them in and out at different times... so I don't disagree that's its not necessary, I just mention it for completeness sake.
As for the critiques on the film, I wont' disagree, but that's the great thing about film and film scores (especially Goldsmith): they are not mutually exclusive.

Shouldn't it be 'Will we ever hear it all*?'
originally the thread was "when will we see it?" as in a release of the score.
People complained that we had "seen" it and that I should be more precise as to say "when will we see it all released?"
I now adjust again although I don't see what it has to do with the discussion but I've adjusted it.

. While TD's score doesn't help the movie in any way, it certainly doesn't "absolutely ruin" the film "on every level". Ummm the script pretty much handled that chore before TD or Goldsmith ever wrote any music.
