Just received my copy and am happily listening now. Exquisite, melancholic, melodic, gorgeous late-Delerue ! Top-drawer sound IMHO. It's been a LONG wait since I first watched this film some 17 years ago or so....good things DO come from those who patiently wait.

I still hope for a surprise PARIS BY NIGHT release in the future...

One observation: I recall in the film that after track 8 on the CD, there's a statement of the main theme, an oboe or trumpet under the organ. This music seems to be missing from the album...

If you refer to track 8 (organ source), the so-called (not) missing cue which comes after the church sequence is in fact the track 2 (To the Alps) in the CD. In the film, there is a superposition of these two cues if you do refer to this one.

Yes, I see. Thanks for clarifying, MB. I was used to hearing my cassette tape in film sequence. Great album and thanks so much for producing !!

Recieved this today along with the Morricone and Bacalov's LE JUGE - UN TRANSFUGE.

Thanks for the mini review shureman. Alas, I won't get around to these before I get through my near 75 (sealed) CD backlog frown

On the other hand, they'll be great listening in the offing for the next few months. smile

Yes as perfect as MR Delerue's compositions in melodic beauty.

Also this recording features the typical Delerue breathing, that is also found in other Delerue recordings.

Is it Georges Delerue's breathing? Was he that close to the microphones? Seems kind of weird.

Perhaps he suffered from emphysema in later years...
