JEFF ALEXANDER was born on JULY 2,1910 in SEATTLE , WASHINGTON.He scored over 40 features from the 50's into the 70's.Such films as THE TENDER TRAP,WINGS OF EAGLES,THE GAZEBO, KID, GALAHAD, CLAMBAKE,SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL SHERIFF,DIRTY DINGUS MAGEE, ETC. He also did a good amount of music for the following TV shows, BACHELOR FATHER,THE LIEUTENANT, JULIA,THE JIMMY STEWART SHOW ETC.Jeff passed away on December 23, 1989 at the age of 79.

DAVID SHIRE was born on JULY 3, 1937 in BUFFALO ,NEW YORK.He has scored over 120 films since the 70's , they include TAKING OF PELHAM ONE TWO THREE,THE HINDENBURG,NORMA RAE,THE PROMISE,2010,RETURN TO OZ,SHORT CIRCUIT ETC. David has also embraced theatre as well in the past. He is currently still active at the age of 77

GEORGE BRUNS was born on JULY 3, 1914 in SANDY, OREGON.He composed music for over 2 dozen features, they included, 101 DALMATIONS,THE ABSENT MINDED PROFESSOR,SWORD IN THE STONE, JUNGLE BOOK, THE LOVE BUG ETC, He worked on films from the 50's into the 70's.He passed away on MAY 23, 1983 at the age of 68.

PEER RABEN was born on JULY 3, 1940 in VIECHTACH, GERMANY. He composed music for dozens of films from the 70's till the turn of the century. They included TENDERNESS OF YHE WOLVES,SATAN'S BREW,DESPAIR,THE MARRIAGE OF MARIA BRAUN, LIL MARLEEEN, BERLIN ALEXANDERPLATZ ETC ETC.HE passed away on JANUARY 21 2007 at the age of 66.

HANNS EISLER was born on JULY 6, 1898 in LEIPZIG, GERMANY. He did dozens of features until his death , both in the AMERICAN cinema and the GERMAN cinema. They include NONE BUT THE LONELY HEART,THE SPANISH MAIN,THE CRUCIBLE, ETC, He died on SEPTEMBER 6, 1962 at the age of 64.

It's interesting looking so far in a 5 month period the life expectancy of film composers. Unlike artists in other fields of music, rock ,etc those who have died so far there have been few early deaths and tragedies. All things consider. Some have lived to a old ripe age and some have fallen into a sought of average life expectancy bracket. Mind you these are those who have passed on, some many years ago as well. Meanwhile there are plenty listed here who are still going strong who are up there in age. Here is what I currently got from early FEBRUARY TILL NOW.---------------------- 90's-7-80's-24-70's-19-60's-24-[tie there] 50's-10-40's-3-30's-1 20's -1. --As one can see only 5 have died so far under 50.

Jay seems to have semi retired the past few years,he is currently 68 years old.
