Of course I also can't confirm an upcoming release and can only speculate. Anyway, if EBOLI indeed appears in the Beat Piccioni series, then it would certainly be quite soon in just a few months.
Till now the chronology of the entire series has been: 1959 - 1962 - 1963 - 1965 - 1968 - 1969 - 1975.
Maybe something like LE TÉMOIN (1978) or IL COMUNE SENSO DEL PUDORE (1976) could still appear directly after CUORE DI CANE, but then it should be the proper time for EBOLI. smile

Just listening to Le Altre for the first time very impressed so far the pace is mellower than Camille 2000 track 4. Is very repetitive in an extremely good way it draws you right in it is just sublime.

Wow!
Listening to BEAT’s newly released Piccioni Le Altre constantly now!
For me, it is the highlight of the Piccioni Series so far!
(written for those of us who love his jazz/easy listening/lounge compositions.)

wayoutwest posted that track 4 is sublime, and I have to echo that!
A blissfully melodic flute riff happily floats over an upbeat rhythm for over 4 intoxicating minutes!
You’ll be addicted as soon as you hear it!!
I can’t get enough of it!
But the CD highlights do not end with this track alone! Track after track is so wonderfully listenable and enjoyable. Keyboards (organ and piano), a few wordless vocals, and general jazzy easy listening sounds make this a perfect CD to uplift your mood and keeps you in a groovy state of mind.

I can’t get enough of this!

With a running length of 2 hours, I was surprised how relatively little apparent repetition there was on the disc (less noticeable than In Viaggio con Papa, for example.)

Oh, did I mention I cant get enough of this CD….
wink

Enjoy!

"Le Altre" has been quite a discovery for me as well. An excellent very enjoyable Piccioni that immediately will rank in my top 10 among the 60 or so albums I have of his.

Highly recommended smile

There is not a bad track on Le Altre good to see others are having similar experiences to my own and it is amazing that nothing has been released from this score before until now 35 years later.

Nothing else I can think of from Piccioni is really that similar in style to this score the music is invigorating it is up there with his best it takes me to my happy place.

Hi, Daddy Lime.

I haven't gotten any CDs in months, so I have yet to catch up with LE ALTRE.

Would you rank LE ALTRE as better than SCACCO ALLA REGINA?

Hi ToneRow,
I think most would agree that Scacco Alla Regina is a Piccioni masterpiece, and the disc is a perfect listening experience. So too is Le Altre but for slightly different reasons.
The colors of Scacco are at times more subdued, sensual, and ethereal ("con o senza sole" comes to mind), as the dominant prominence of Edda's vocals simply put it into a separate category from Le Altre.

So, ToneRow, with great respect for your own detailed knowledge of Piccioni's work, I'll have to admit I can't rank Le Altre over/under Scacco Alla Regina; Well, not with a clear conscience anyway, because for me, each one is a "10 of 10"
Once you get a hold of Le Altre, I'd love to know your thoughts!

Coming up from Saimel Masterworks:

"LE EVASIONI CELEBRI is a 1972 TV series narrating prison's escape of celebrities. Piero Piccioni composed the music for the episodes dedicated to Benvenuto Cellini and Giacomo Casanova. Piccioni make excellent symphonic music for two scores. With a great treatment of the strings, we can hear melodic moments of great elegance with happier passages. There are also blocks marked with dramatic tone. In BENVENUTO CELLINI there are some tracks with dramatic and action tone. In L’EVASIONE DI CASANOVA there is a similar instrumentation but with a faster pace, in line with the protagonist."

Dear Ken, write me direct at bipcress@comcast.net and I will be glad to help you with your admirable passion for Piccioni. I have been "SWEPT AWAY" by this great artists impressive body of work for decades!

Last year I picked up these two:

"Fumo di Londra" (1997 2 CD set Avanz Records, Japan)
"Playgirl '70" (2010 Verita Note, Japan)

and today I bought:

"Ti ho sposato per allegria" (2010 Verita Note, Japan)

This is Now Playing and I'm enjoying it a lot...

Can anyone recommend any other albums by Piero similar to the above? Or indeed by others - Armando, Ennio etc. Thanks for your help!

[Please excuse my ignorance. Although I am a huge music fan - mainly jazz and soul - it's only in the past couple of years I've started getting into OSTs - these make up a small percentage of my collection compared with other genres.]

Is any chance for the Piccioni/Rosi Cadaveri Eccellenti to have a CD release?

Hi, ajhfsm.

wayoutwest has beat me to the thread with an image of the GDM CD of CADAVERI ECCELLENTI.

The only thing to add is that this CD is from 2002 and appears to be OOP.

You'd have to settle for used CD from the secondary marketplace, but I think there's other Piccioni albums out there which might be more satisfying than CADAVERI ... ones which we've not typed about too much ... such as SENZA VIA D'USCITA (which is the 2nd score on the Saimel disc containing the CIAO GULLIVER soundtrack).

Another title one shouldn't overlook is the 1961 peplum ROMOLO E REMO. smile

Thanks WoW, TR. I'll confine myself to in print titles.

The new Saimel looks to be something worthwhile?

Yeah ... LE EVASIONI CELEBRI appears, to me, as an attractive item.

The Verita Note CD containing 4 Piccioni scores for television programs is above-average Piero in my assessment, and Piccioni's '74 IL BACIO (also from TV) is in my Top 10.

So far, I haven't been disappointed by any of PP's music for television.

IL BACIO was not at all a TV movie, it was a regular feature film released in Italian cinemas in June 1974.

I'm surprised no one heard this one since it was available as a digital download, in lossless quality (Juno Download) for about 2 years now. So I'll not purchase the album this time. I don't remember the soundtrack to be particularly memorable, or at least I don't remember any strong themes, but it depends what you are looking for. I consider all Piccioni albums worthwhile.

The new Saimel looks to be something worthwhile?

I had already written some lines about the score here:
http://filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?threadID=101352&forumID=1&archive=0

I have the CD now here and it is a really nice album which will please above all those who like Piccioni's LE MONACHE DI SANT'ARCANGELO and IL MALATO IMMAGINARIO. There are reference points for both scores.
The love theme from the rejected music of L'UOMO CHE RIDE from 1965 crops up in the track 2 of the BENVENUTO CELLINI score in an arrangement just for for flute and harpsichord.
We also at last get the track "Fantasia pastorale" from the LE MONACHE LP album (A 4) which was missing on the Digitmovies CD. It is now track 13 on the Saimel CD, and there is also a shorter, faster version in track 8 of this theme. Also "Musica per un tema di liuto" from MONACHE (B 3 on the LP) is here in a new arrangement where the lute as solo instrument is much more prominent (track 4 on the CD). It appears again in a different arrangement in track 6 and just the same piece as on the MONACHE LP/CD is then heard in track 15.
There are also some more sinister and sombre, very idiosyncratic suspense pieces in between which ToneRow will certainly enjoy.
The lovely "L'estro ironico" from IL MALATO IMMAGINARIO Is already present in the GIACOMO CASANOVA score in track 24 on the CD.
