What? The film Pocahontas might have a lot of flaws, but they aren't artistic ones. It looks gorgeous and IMO it is Alan Menkens BEST animated score...even better than Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, and Hunchback! See the movie again and listen intently to the music. This may be the best Legacy Collection title yet!

I agree it's among Menken's best. "Farewell," for instance, is an amazing cue.

Really dislike the film, but the score is wonderful. Not sure I would say it's his best, (BATB I think still holds the crown) but it's damn solid, and I'm looking forward to the Legacy release.
I hate to see your Cinderella question unanswered, Solium, especially since I have a question out somewhere on the board similarly unanswered.
I have Cinderella, but haven't gotten to it yet, and haven't had a full album since I had the record in the sixties, so I'm no help at all. Which is why I didn't answer at first - hoping this bumps someone else to do it. I'll let you know what I think of it when I do, but I don't think I'll be much help - I love these releases and don't care about what's not included because these aren't the things I care the most about.
I just finally watched Pocahontas all the way through a couple of years ago and was astonished at how much better it was than I expected, including the music. So I've got this next one on pre-order, along with Aladdin on blu ray finally!
Thxs for the bump and insight Sean. I'm not interested in demos but I am in improved sound (if possible) and expanded scores as heard in the films. I'm looking forward to the Pocahontas release as well!
Yes, Little Mermaid and Aladdin are great and very nice. Extremely successful. But my favorite ones are Beauty and the Beast and this one. I've loved this score and songs for years. It's the Menken movie with the most amount of Songs I REALLY like. Pocahontas (Colors of the Wind) was actually the song (together with the Jurassic Park Theme) that I would ask my dad to play at the piano when I little and unable to, it just gave me so much joy. It's hard saying this is my favorite Menken film score and songs even above Beauty and the Beast, but there is a really good chance it is.

Looks like it's definitely the complete score, including the deleted "If I Never Knew You" that was reinserted for the 2005 DVD. It's interesting how the score overlaps onto the second disc for this one.
I really hope this series keeps going beyond the originally announced 12 releases. I'd love TOY STORY 2 to be in the series, hopefully with Randy's demo version of "When Somebody Loved Me".

Now that several of these Legacy sets have been released, can anyone comment on compression or other issues? Have they been properly mastered for home listening or are they maxed out for car listening?

"Home listening"? What is that?
Many people live with, well, other people. And children. Pets. Noisy things. If I am listening to music at home, should I be sitting like the Maxell guy or can I be doing stuff?
What's up with the Disney titles at Amazon? First Ant Man is unavailable for purchase and now this title has mysteriously become unavailable.
Yeah. May be because the release date keeps getting bumped slightly. http://www.disneymusicemporium.com/rgshop/pocahontas/ has it for pre-order, but one of the site visitor comments is "Very excited for this one. I wonder why it keeps being delayed? First June 23, then July 21 (tomorrow), and now August 7."
I'm thinking it might be that if the release date changes more than once or twice or something, by an algorithm Amazon stops treating it as a pre-order given the shifting release date. I've had items that after they shifted a time or two I got an E-mail starting with "Since we can't guarantee with this item arrives..." or "Since the distributor's timeframe is changing for this item..." and my pre-order was cancelled for that. Maybe it's to avoid "flaky" listings from manufacturer/distributor that will never materialize. I think when it actually hits its release date (now August 7th) you may be able to order it again, or within a few days on either side of that date.

Home listening. As in, is it live or is it Memorex?
But seriously, I'm sure folks who know what I'm talking about can answer? Reviews on these sets seem few and far between. Much thanks.

The Lion King, Toy Story and Mermaid seemed to be properly mastered to my ears. Mermaid has never sounded better - it's a considerable improvement over the previous releases. I can't comment on the other releases since I didn't think they were worth purchasing.
